We're all in agreement, no one deserves the spotlight in this series more than Paul Pierce.

3rd banana? I never once heard that case made. (And I'm praying for the Captain's knee in the biggest series of his life.)

When I clicked on this I figured it was asking the good Dr. for his prognossis on the knee.

That is the great thing about this forum you read you don't just hear it. And you can go back to Oct/Nov/Dec and read the "We don't need Paul's offense" thread or the like.

Obviously it isn't an easy case to make while the team is winning games with KG out hurt or Ray mired in a shooting slump but that doesn't mean the case wasn't made at all.

Hell - some morons were making the case that PP was holding the team back. <g>

I must have a bad memory, Sully00--and truly that may just be the case here. But I only recall arguments against Pierce's offense being made against his needing to score as many points as he had in the past (as turned out to be the case) or to always be the last-second, 4-on-1 iso option that had become one of his lesser trademarks. Indeed, he seems to have overcome it, making him an even better player.

Certainly no one claimed that Perk or Rondo were going to be primary offensive options back then, so I don't see how a case could be made that Pierce's offense wasn't needed. And I don't believe anyone ever claimed that Ray was a better defender.
