Gino Revealed

Post#1 » by BuffaloBull » Fri Jun 6, 2008 3:20 pm

Here:

So it sounds like a WSJ reporter tracked down the real Gino. Unfortunately, the story doesn't have a happy ending.

The news couldn't have been sadder. Mr. Massoni, the woman said, passed away 18 years ago from pneumonia. "I didn't want to burst everybody's bubble because it's been so neat what's been going on in Boston," Ms. Izen said. The Wall Street Journal couldn't independently verify the claim that Mr. Massoni is the deceased dancer. But Dick Clark Productions vouches for Ms. Izen's story. A spokeswoman for the San Bernardino, Calif., coroner's office confirmed that a man named Joseph R. Massoni passed away in 1990 at age 34 in Fontana, Calif. Calls to the residence of Mr. Massoni's brother weren't returned.

I don't like being the bearer of bad news, but I figured you guys would want to know. I just want you all to know I'm not here for the wrong reasons: I'm a Bulls fan, always have been, but my first live NBA games were at the Fleet Center in College, the Gino clip is the best, and if you could really have a second team, the C's would be it. Got a real soft spot for the Truth and hope to see the Celtics beat LA for the 'chip.

Interesting link, thanks for sharing! It's sad to hear about the dancer; too bad he's not here to enjoy it.

Hmm, I thought during one of the games early in the season they did an interview with the real Gino during a spot about the whole Gino craze. Anyone else remember that? Of course human memory is pretty unreliable, ask any trial lawyer, so I could have the whole thing wrong.

I remember that. He was wearing glasses and seemed uncharacteristically boring.

The "Gino" logo was the logo for an album. The interview was with the guy who wrote the album, whose name escapes me, and that guy has actually been to a coupel games. So technically HE is the original gino guy, but the dancer just wore the gino shirt and until now his identity was up for questioning.

Too soon to use the line "his dances moves are SICK!"???
"I can tell you my testicles are the same size," he added later. "They haven't shrunk. They're the same and work just the same as they always have." - Barry Bonds disputing allegations of steroid use.
