In all 4 of the Lakers' wins the free throw disparity was greater than the final margin of victory.

BUT, I have never seen this type of disparity before!

The truth of the matters is of course LA isn't as good as they thought, and Boston is better.

Don't let facts get i the way of a good whine. Typical soft Lakers.

IMO, we got some home calls last night, but we were by far the more aggressive team and the Lakers settled a lot for outside shots. So the FT disparity is not too outrageous. I don't think just the number of FT attempts tell the whole story about officiating. Our D did a good job in keeping the Lakers out of the paint and thus limiting their ability to draw fouls.

Agreed. Also, why wasn't ESPN chewing out the refs when the Celtics were getting crushed at the stripe against Atlanta and especially Cleveland? Instead of bitching about refs (*coughMichaelWilboncough*), they were saying, "Well, the Celtics are being too passive and settling for jump shots, while their opponents are being aggressive and taking it to the hoop."

I agree 100%. He doesn't really know **** about basketball. He's just a big fan who spends a lot of time following the game, like any of us. Jon Barry continuously makes him seem like a moron because he actually breaks things down and says things that make sense. Wilbon is just a fat ugly ****.

Yeah, throughout these playoffs we've been getting screwed.

NAILED IT!

That's what gets my goat......when we were getting screwed by Atl/Cle/Det by the refs in those series you never heard a peep by Espn/Tbs/Abc at all. Not a word, it was just fine. Now we get some borderline calls and the sports world just been tipped off it's scale. Now we need to get new refs etc. Cracks me up.....

You will see a laker backlash soon. The problem is many of the pundits picked the Lakers, now, they are trying to find a reaosn why they look stupid.

Celts had huge free throw disparity against the hawks. There wre times against cleveland where pierce would get knocked to the floor and no call.

Boston took the high road and made the best of it. The Lakers are whining. This from a team that got gifted game 4 in San Antonio because of a non-foul call that was later ruled a foul by the NBA.

I know LA is egocentric, bu did anyone consider Boston is the better team?

Phil is pretty good at working refs, and the lakers are at home. I would not be surprised to see a few more calls go the other way in game 3. I thinks its more important to get a jump on them early and take the crowd out.

Well, overall we did get the benefit last night when it came to free throws, but we weren't far behind in total fouls. That offensive foul on Bryant "elbowing" Ray was ridiculous, but as for the complaints about how much Powe got to the line, he earned every one of them by relentlessly attacking the basket. Let's hope the refs still have it in for Kobe when we get to L.A., I was really expecting him to get LeBron like treatment when it came to contact. If Phil really has a problem with the amount of fouls called he should keep getting Gasol the ball in the post to attack the basket, he was killing us until the Lakers seemed to forget he was out there.

Not knowing the assignments as far as refs go what Phil and Kobe did last night was stupid. Delaney is the best road official (fair to the road team in the league) and Mauer and Dan Crawford are pretty even guys as well. The fouls were 28-21 in favor of Boston and 7 of those were the Lakers wrapping Powe going in for layups.

You can't get to the line shooting jump shots. Add to that the play Kobe took the Tech on he didn't get touched and he made the hoop.

While nothing can stop Bennet the fixer I don't think that Phil and Kobe are helping themselves.

Exactly! Gasol's been their best player so far in the finals. I knew Gasol was good as hell, but he's been very very impressive in the first 2 games in Boston. Hopefully the Lakers will continue to forget about him and Kobe will hog the ball and never pass to him because if they kept feeding him the ball, Gasol would have gone for 30 easily.

the huge disparity in free throws the first couple series were "the Celtics are a jump shooting team" and now we come out and get the calls we should have been getting all playoffs long and "i have never seen a disparity like that before"
