Phil Whiner

Post#1 » by Vincent Burnett » Mon Jun 9, 2008 6:01 pm

kobe always jumbs away from contact right before launching his jumpers, unlike Peirce who understands how to go in get the contact and make his shot. Phil whiner teaches his team to foul and hopes the refs miss the calls, while the Celtics actually try not to foul. Also the lakers like to double team the big three. As a result when L. Powe gets the ball the laker defenders are out of position and have to foul. I saw alot more fouls that should have been called on the lakers.

There were a few ticky-tack calls on the Lakers that even I, the ultimate Celtic homer, thought were bad. But Radmanovic got away with a 6-step drive to the hoop and the steal Powe had on Fisher that was all ball but was whistled a foul was awful.

So Phil should shut up.
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

I'd like to see Phil's post-game press conference from the Utah game where the Lakers took almost 30 more free throws than the Jazz. I'm sure he was making a big deal about how the refs were favoring his team.

Phil and his Lakers are getting spoiled after the refs gave the Utah series to them. I thought Kobe was trying to throw an elbow on Ray Allen's cheek. The refs did a good job on keeping them in check.

Doc will never complain. When we gave up 47 free thropws to the Hawks, all Doc said was that it just too many free throws. I remeber someone tried to bait Pierce into complaining about the refs, and PIerce said they were all good calls.

Celts have mental toughness.

Eddie House.

Glenn Davis.

Tony Allen.

These are the other 3 guys that could sneak up on you and bite you in the *$$.

I think you know who Leon Powe is now. And you just might be able to pronounce it now.

All anyone is stalking about is the refs. Phil got exactly what he wanted out of this. The Celtics will not get any calls on Tuesday. We just need to play through.

He knew how to pronounce Powe's name. He would have to be an idiot of epic proportions not to, and while I hate him he's no total moron. He was doing it to make a dramatic point, that some guy who up until halftime of Game 2 nobody watching really knew about (other than C's fans) managed to get more FTAs than the entire Lakers team.

Honestly, while I don't think it ended up affecting the game THAT much, I do think they got some crazy bad fouls called on them in the 1st half. The 'elbow' by Kobe on Allen was the most egregious. However, they also got some generous ones in their favor in the 2nd half (Vlad Rad's travel through New England on his breakaway dunk), so in the end bad officiating evened itself out.

Nonetheless, with him constantly working the refs, Stern wanting a long series, and a return to Staples iminent, I expect the referees to blow a much quicker whistle in LA on the Celtics defense. Expect several moving picks and off-the-ball whistles called as Fisher, Vujacic, and Gasol flop around like fish out of water. Not that they shouldn't though, since if a tight game is called with the whistles it is in their favor. They can't match the Celtics toughness or strength, so they must neutralize it with fouls.

The free throw differential at one point was 30-2.

And one of those 2 fta's was on a technical.

Nothing more needs to be said.

Guess what, this is a Celtics board. If you don't like what you are reading I suggest you stay away. Celtics got to the FT line because they were more aggressive. Total fouls were 28-21, so the difference wasn't that bad. Good day to you.

Look, I dont want to start anything, but how do you figure they were more aggressive? The Lakers attempted 16 more fg's in the paint... How does that show that the Celtics were more aggressive?

And total fouls mean nothing.. The fact that at one point in the game the Celtics had shot 30 free throws to the Lakers 2 does though.

lol, because the date i signed on to a message board has any bearing whatsoever on what type of fan i am or how long ive been a fan. way to be an internet nerd!!
and i wont bi*** about the refs giving a minor advantage to the home team, its been that way for EVERYONE in the playoffs. id bi*** if the game was a mirror image and the lakers got anything more than 3-4 less calls.
i get your gonna be biased, your a fan, but atleast be somewhat rational. the team that is aggreassive and drives is gonna get the favorable calls, it aint science guy

I agree... But again I ask the question...

How were the Celtics more "aggressive" when the Lakers had 16 more fga's inside the paint? What was it that made the Celtics more aggressive? They attempted more jump shots than LA did...
