This must be true because he has so much credibility. I mean he only bet on games he officiated, dealt with organized crime, and is trying to avoid paying $1 million dollars to the league to cover the cost of its internal investigation.

true,but if there was ever a game to point to and say that it was fixed it was that one.

Hopefully these allegations keep the refs honest in LA...hopefully it doesn't fell into Phil Jackson's plan to whine and make it look like they were favoring us and going the other way tonight to look fair...(sorry that wasn't much of a comprehensible sentence.)

That just confirms what many have already suspected. That series was shamefull. Game 6 was a travesty. The Kings were up 3-2 and could have easily won the game if not for some extra-special bogus calls, including that famous Bibby "foul", with the Lakers going to the line on seemingly every other possession. It was hard to watch as a fan of basketball. The Kings were the better team that year.

I always did pencil the 2002 Kings in as Champs. I've heard "worst officials ever" and "worst called game ever" thrown about on this board over the last few weeks, but NOTHING compares to how that whole series was called.

Sac was clearly the better team and they played better than the Lakers.

The L didn't want a Sac/New Jersey final, and now it's the truth.

Wonder what the brilliant Phil J has to say about that one?

Don't forget 2000(?) game 7 between LA and Portland.... remember Portland had a 10-15 point lead in the 4th (this is the game where Kobe said the league's worst fear came true, that he and Shaq were on the same page). This is when Rasheed was still with Portland. LA 1st *Championship in the Shaq era.

That LA/Sacramento game was absolutely terrible. However I recall the Dallas / Miami championship series to be the one with the most head scratching fouls.

Seriously, what the **** are you talking about? Do you watch basketball? ONE game where the Celtics go to the hoop more than the other team, and the Celtics have the refs on their side...unbelievable.

Ex-NBA referee Tim Donaghy told the feds two referees fixed the outcome of one playoff series and that officials were told not to eject star players from games for fear of hurting ticket sales.
The allegations are contained in a court document filed Tuesday by Donaghy's lawyer. Donaghy said officials were told not to call technical fouls on stars, and that two officials helped extend a 2002 playoff series to a seventh game, all in the name of ticket sales and television revenue. The Kings/Lakers series was the only one to go seven games that year, with the Lakers winning games 6 and 7. Funny how the media-assimilated Jeff Van Gundy now has a drastically different opinion about NBA officiating in light of the League's biggest scandal.

David Stern's continued denial of any fixing or manipulation is insulting to fans, players and this now-'tainted' game. Sure, Donaghy was wrong, but the NBA doesn't want to be right.

Time for fans to take off the blindfold and demand the truth.
