The Celtics are reportedly close to applying for the right to host an NBA All-Star Game as early as 2010, according to The Boston Globe.
The team will make a decision on whether or not to officially apply for the right to host a game within the next week.
"They've expressed interest," said Ski Austin, executive vice president/events and attractions for NBA Entertainment. "[Celtics president] Rich Gotham has met with us a couple of times over the last few years. We have sent them the specs for a formal bid. I think they are doing their due diligence."
Boston doesn't appear to have any particular year in mind, but the league is currently looking at sites for 2010-12.
