It is time for KG to step up on offensive end and carry this team to a win!
He waited for years to finally have a chance to play in the finals and win a ring and now when he is there he hasn`t delivered! Sure, we haven`t gone to him enough in the post, it is not all his fault but there should be no more excuses!
He must demand the ball, dominate in the paint and carry this team on offensive end! No more hiding, no more unselfishness, TAKE OVER the game KG! Win game 4!!!

He did step up, he just didn't sink his shots. The guy was what, 5-21? It showed that he wanted the ball and was getting it, he just didn't make the jumpers he normally makes. Like it or not, he's not going to suddenly become Dwight Howard and live in the paint. 3/4 of his shots will be jumpers, and the other 25% will end up being dunks or 2nd chance points in the paint. That's just the reality.
I, you, and everyone else wants him down there, but the offense is built on his jumper drawing guys from the basket, so that Pierce can get to the basket, and so Perkins can clear space for offensive rebounds. If he is hitting his jumper like he normally does, it really makes it hard for opponents to stop us. If he isn't, we can get in trouble because jumpers that aren't falling are really bad possessions IMO.
With two straight subpar shooting games, I expect that KG will have been in the gym shooting for hours taking shots. While he might not go 10-15, I can bet you that he (and Pierce) will shoot far better than Tuesday. Maybe Ray Allen doesn't shoot 5-7 from three point land, but if PP and Garnett shoot like they normally do, they'll more than make up for the slight drop in production from RA.
What scares me the most is that Rajon Rondo being out will kill our transition game. Allen and Pierce get a ton of baskets by taking advantage of the defense before it's set up. However, if Rondo is replaced by House and Tony Allen, they just lack the pure speed and vision to get the ball up quickly and pressure the ball.
I, for one, believe Rondo will be out there. He might not be 100%, but Rondo at 85% is still faster than House. Maybe House gets an extra 6-10 minutes, but for the most part I still think Rajon will be out there. If he was playing in the 4th quarter on Tuesday, he can gut it out after two nights of rest.

Paul Pierce is the one that needs to step up. I agree that KG should too, but the fact is... KG Has not been bad. In game 3, Paul was terribly off his game. He looked 2 steps slower and was sluggish. I swear, I wondered if he was drugged. If you go back and watch the game and just look at Pierce, it's like... the fix was in. That's a lot coming from me. Paul is my favorite player. I've been watching the dude for a decade and I have NEVER seen him so uninspired. In a game of this magnitude, it's dissapointing to me that, from what I'm reading, he was out late shinin' when he really needed to be sleep. Jet lag is not an excuse to me. Be a professional. If you sleep after the plane lands, focus and block out all the extra stuff you won't have any issues during game time. There's plenty of time to get your shine on AFTER the series is over.
With that said, I fully expect a Kobe-like effort from Truth tonight.

KG doesn't need to step up, he needs to step DOWN, as in down on the block. I know it's not his comfort zone, but they've stressed all year, sacrifice for the good of the team. Well, the good of the team is taking your best low-post scorer and having him punish the soft interior defense of the Lakers. He's not gonna get easy layups all the time, but he'll get some easy shots, some guys in foul trouble, and many double teams that, with proper ball movement, will lead to open looks.
That's why, if Rondo isn't 100% and will be limited in his minutes, I think it might be best to start House at the point. That way, they can establish the post game from the start and make the Lakers think twice about double-teaming KG.

KG just has to shoot the ball at a better rate. I mean he is unstopable when being guarded down low against any LA defender. I use that word defender losely.

Yeah. Lamar Odom, Pau Gasol, and Ronny Turiaf really stretch the definition of 'post defender.' If KG won't go down low, heck, I might even throw it down to Perk 2-3 times and let him bully Gasol or Odom. He had a real nice move down in the paint on Odom on Tuesday for an easy hook lay-in. He's not going to face any resistance going to the basket, so it might be worth it once or twice more per half.

He needs to take a Ritalin, calm down and focus, and just play his game. Take shots that come, but keep the defensive intensity and rebounding solid. That, to me, is where he excels. I may be in the minority among Celtics fans, but when KG scores a lot, it's gravy. Rebound and defend big guy, rebound and defend.

If KG doesn't have at least one game in teh Finals where he is a deciding factor in getting easy shots [either getting to the line a lot of being a post presence] then my opinion of him will significantly shrink.
I always knew it wasn't in his nature but I just assumed that at least one game he'd do it because it's what is right for the team. If he can't then he'll be nothing more then a focused Rasheed Wallace to me. HoF sure, but not a great.

i agree.
KG is a BEAST when he is truly determined to get in the paint & SHOOT THE BALL! look at a few detroit games when he consistently got in the paint. & that was against mcdyess/wallace, who are both MUCH better defenders than odom/gasol. wake up KG & GET IN THE PAINT & SHOOT!!!! we all know you can take this series over, IF you get it in your mind that no one can stop you!!!!
THIS IS YOUR TIME! when they showed him holding the trophy, you could tell he wanted it, but you gotta earn it big ticket!!! BE the BIG TICKET!!!! please, can we see a vintage 32 pt, 18 reb, 8 ast, 4 blk, 4 stl KG game?

KG should learn a hook shot. He gets great position down low, but seems to turn into the defender, taking away that advantage.

Perk has a hook shot. He just doesn`t get the ball down low, so he can`t really show it.

Yep, Perk and Powe have spent more time in the post than KG and they made it look easy! KG doesn't even need to post up because he is fast enough to just go right by the guys guarding him and take it to the rack.
Pierce was shooting 88% from 3 for the first 2 games, so he was bound to have a bad night, especially given the knee thing and that he was seen out on the town the day before.

You mean laser, he shoot lasers, it's not a hook if it doesn't curve.

I've been saying that since Perk started playing meaningful minutes! It's a bullet that threatens to break the backboard on any given night!

Well, I'm a huge KG fan but I agree with you guys on this one.
He looked unstoppable in Game 3 the few times that he played in the post. He was just getting heated up in the third quarter when Phil called a time out and got him off track again.
He is a team-oriented player; what can you say. But exploiting his matchup in the post might be better for the team than passing the ball. I hope he sees that.
