Ray's Reverse Lay-Up: A triple pump

Watch this super slo-mo of the late reverse lay-up Ray made along the baseline. I didn't notice yesterday but he actually made a triple-pump. He pumped once to get under Gasol's block, brings it back up but realizes he's under the rim, so he brings it back down again before spinning it in on the third pump before Odom can block it.

I think this should replace that 'Oh, a spectacular move!' lay-up from Jordan in NBA Finals lore. That one was just changing hands against no defenders. And it was just in the middle of the game somewhere - it wasn't with a one point lead and two minutes left.

Of course it won't. Once you click on this link, it'll probably be the last time you ever see it. Breen's call was bland and none of the analysts (ABC or otherwise) seemed to comment.

That's amazing, I hadn't noticed how the ball changed hands either.

Do you have a super-slo-mo of PJ Brown's dunk?

The single best move so far, even better than KG's poster on Gasol.

Just thought I would say it also puts Dr. J's layup to shame.

If it was Kobe who did that, it would be all we see 24-7 on ESPN for the next decade comparing it to MJ's "shot" over L.A. in his first finals.

But since it was Ray, it won't be shown again.

and Odom slapped the backboard before the ball went through the hoop....If the ball had rimmed out---you know the refs would have missed that goaltending call.....good thing for David Stern that the ball went in.

That is an amazing move now that I look at it again. It was pretty sweet the first time I saw it - but your right about the triple pump. One of the best moves I have ever seen - especially when you consider how clutch it was.

What a move. Seeing it live, it really didn't seem like a special move because...
#1: You couldn't see all the fakes he had to do like you can see on the slo-mo.
#2: Ray just does everything so smooth and easy- this ridiculously tough reverse layup included.

That is one tough finish between the defenders he had to dodge, the sick hang time he had and the fact that he was already well on the way down when he finally released the ball. I'll second the claim that if Kobe (I'll add LeBron into the mix, too) had done that, we'd see it all over ESPN at least until the Finals ended.
