08/09 roster. I know it is early BUT!

I know it is hard to be excited about anythingelse with the Title so close, but it is exciting to think about what this roster could look like for next season.

The Starting five we have seen is a superb unit and will not change.
So we start the roster discussion with
PG Rondo
SG R Allen
SF Paul (the True) Pierce
PF KG
C Kendrick Perkins
Then you have the other contracted players.
Leon Powe. A perfect compliment to the starting 5.
Big Baby. A guy who will continue to improve. Will get a significant number of PJ's minutes
Scal. Some how got to move him, doubtful but a waste of a roster spot.
Pruitt hopefully a guy who has developed in the Dleague and can contribute next season.

Then you have Eddie House who has done more than enough to show his value off the bench. Should be offered a contract for 3 years.
And the guy who should be given a contract 5 minutes after the champagne is being poured in the C's locker room. JAMES POSEY. What an important piece to this team he has been.
With PJ Brown and Sam I am retiring and Tony Allen likey (and should) released for his own sake as much as the clubs, we have 3 roster spots available as long as House and Posey are re-uped.

PG's Rondo, House, Pruitt
SG's R Allen, T Allen
SF's Pierce, Posey
PF's KG, Powe, Scal
C's Perkins, Big Baby

That is 12 players with 15 spots available including Tony Allen.
We have picks at 30 and 60 and then room still for a vet.
If Tony Allen is expenable and is let go, it makes a SG/combo guard a very important peice to pick up and maybe the most likely option for the 1st round of the draft. I know a lot of people think the C's need to strengthen our big man rotation, but the emergence of Perkins as well as Glen Davis, I don't see it as the biggest need. You are more likely to get at the 30th pick a more NBA ready 2 guard than a big. We should look at free agency for a vet big, or a project at 60.
08/09 looks to be a more sure thing than this year was with the mix and chemistry this team has.

I am quite used to PJ Brown on this squad, maybe they can coerce him to stay one more? Wonder what Mutombo is up to?

There is no dout PJ has come up huge for us in the playoffs, in particular in the FINALS. But really, how many minutes would he play in the regular season. If I was a betting man, and I am! I would make it better than even money that he calls it quits after winning a title with the C's.

If he did decide to come back great, but I certainly would count on it. Mcdyess would be a nice pick up if the Pistons dont make him an offer. Could be a little steep for us to get considering we are more than liely to make offers to both Eddie and James.

We need to resign PJ Brown. He's been absolutely invaluable for us this postseason. You can't get positive veteran presence/leadership like that easily.

Well there will be somehanges forsure notin the starters but the bench for sure. If we win it PJBrown will most likely retire. PJ would be doing a good in that he will go out a winner it seemedtough forhim to want to comeback for a quarter season, Ithink he ws the key acquisition by ainge at the deadline. He has come up very big. His replacement on the roster will be Scot Pollard he will resign again for the minium it makes sense if PJ doesn't want to play again. Scot knows the offensive and defensive schemes he is a 7 footer and had surgieson injuries that plagued him. He is a downgrade from Brown offensively. One either House or Posey will not be back. I say sign Posey. Eddie is good but posey is more important. Replacement for House maybe samcassellif he'll play for the minium Pruittwillget someplay next year also. Our draft will be a big they apparently worked out ryan anderson from Cal who wouldbe a solid pickup here. We can'tloseposey though he must be resigned. Tony Allen might not be back either.

What do you guys think of someone like Troy Hudson off the bench as an offensive minded backup PG?

Here's what we can take to the bank:

The five starters and Posey are core members of the team. They'll all be back.

PJ Brown will be invited back. I don't know whether he'll accept. The money he makes will be trivial to him from a lifetime earnings perspective, so his family may encourage him not to, or even to play for the Hornets if he insists on not retiring outright.

Every attempt will be made to upgrade Cassell. Cassell was supposed to be an upgrade from House. Doc now says publicly it's a toss-up between them, and in Game 4 he in fact picked House.

There will be at least one veteran center other than Perk. It might just be Pollard, conceivably. If Posey demands the MLE, then it probably WILL be Pollard.
