Garnett choked tonight. Missing those FT's and those little layup/tap ins. Go Aggressive man! Play tough, you better bring your A game.

He is the Incredible $25M Shrinking Man. Unbelievable how small he plays in all the big games... :nonono:

KG had 7 offensive rebounds tonight and >50% FG%. That's not exactly mailing it in.

I actually agree that he choked even so, but let's keep things in a bit of perspective ...

KG is going to beat himself up over this performance. The refs had a lot to do with taking him out of the game with the BS calls early on and he never got it going really offensively or even defensively totally either. I'd look for him to have a big game at home in game 6 and hopefully the refs call a better game for us. That and I sure hope we dont have another terrible 1st qtr.

Well I think you first have to look at KG being in foul trouble as to why he had a bad game, however he did miss those two HUGE free throws and I dont think KG will forget that he missed them, I think KG will hopefully stay in the box in game 6 and help us win #17

Yep...and in 1985 when the Celtics got eliminated by the Lakers in game 6 Larry Bird took 29 shots to score 28 points (12 for 29) while Dennis Johnson and Danny Ainge were a combined 6-for-31.

Robert Parish (5-for-14) was demolished by the oldest man in the league who had 29 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists despite battling foul trouble all night and eventually fouling out.

So lets take their numbers down from the rafters because chokers aren't tolerated in Boston..............right?

Like I said I expect him to really beat himself up over this. He'll have a big game I'm sure. I can't see him going out in the finals like a chump.

KG was taken out of the game and his rhythm by the reffing....of his 5 fouls only 2 were legit...even Van Gundy/Jackson thought the others were blown calls. He'll be steaming over his performance and come back ferocious in game 6.

Last night was the refs gently nudging the Fake-show into game 6...
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

I don't have any problem with your position......

.......but this whole claim that a player should carry the team is a disservice to what Celtic ball is about....it is all over RealGM and it is wrong IMO

KG did have a bad game but looking back over the past 15 years of Celtic history I consider it absurd to claim that KG is not worth his money or that he is anything less than a great player.

Kobe, LaBron, Wade, Dirk, etc are all getting beat up the same way by people that can't carry their jock strap.

If Red Auerbach stood for anything it is that basketball is a team game.....a team wins and loses together.

KG's Game 5 was about like his Game 2-4 (and the second half of Game 1), which is to say very weak.

Gotta love how Gasoft posts up KG in the lane, yet Gasoft forces KG to post up near the 3-pt line.

KG was a liability for the C's last night. And that's not even taking into account the choke job on the free throws and tip-ins.

Nobody wants KG to fail here. I'm not a hater. I really want to see him do well and become a champion. I just have a hard time hiding my disappointment.

I have a question. Why is it okay to criticize Ray Allen when he's playing like crap, but not KG? At least Ray showed up in the Finals. Where's KG?

I agree 100%. What a disappointing showing. You can't blame the refs (okay, you can always blame NBA refs a little) for Garnett's choke-job. I mean, don't tell me you all didn't know he would miss those two free throws? And letting Gasol manhandle him? Please.

If the Cs win tomorrow night, it sure won't be because of Garnett.

KG is not a natural post player- he is a jump shooting big man. we all agree that he SHOULD play in the post but he more comfortable shooting the jumper off the pick and pop. if you watch him in the post he often is slow to get into his moves and often he travels. Also he really doesn't play a power game down there; it is more finesse with bank shots, spins etc. at this stage of his career you'r enot going to make him into kevin McHale. that's why its so important to have a physical presence with him in the paint like Perkins etc. I would consider putting baby on gasol to body him and take him away frm the basket. there is no way gasol is going to back down baby. sure he will shoot over him but I would rather take that than have him shooting 3 foot hook shots. if you watch KG he is just too long and too skinny to hold his position down there. We might be better off on offense having him pop open for the little 12-15 footer. it would also help rondo

I wouldn't say KG hasn't shown up in the finals. His offense has been weak (shooting wise), but the rebounding, passing, and defense has been there for all 5 games. But I do think KG needs to be more aggressive in the post.

You have to remember KG is an all around player, he is not just a scorer or shooter. The man does much more than that. So him struggling with his jumper, is not the biggest concern we have because he brings so much more to the table.

Yeah, and I've been willing to forgive him a lot of offensive woes, but getting abused by Gasol in the post is inexcusable, as well as those missed free throws.

I dont think we are disagreeing at all. He doesn't have to totally dominate to have a good game, but he is capable of doing much more than he did. I dont question his ability and those that do are mostly just people hating.

KG's performance has nothing to do with the refs. As Van Gundy was saying last night, KG's gotta play a lot smarter than that. That reach-in on Gasol, even though wasn't a foul, it's a call, that can often go against you. After being in the league for that long, he has to distinguish what the plays he should go for with foul trouble.

And refs had nothing to do with his missing those free throws. He really needs to step up. If you're going to rely on the refs to keep you in the game, then you're not going to win caca.

Unfortunately for us, if KG decides take jumpshots, we lose. If he plays in the post, we win. There is no other more commanding indicator on this team and only KG can make this decision.

I dont know how anyone can blame foul trouble on missing Free Throws and layups and tap ins. You can blame that and no Perk on why Gasol and hell Odom and Farmar made many shots around the basket.

KG played horrible. If the man that "changed our culture" wants a ring it's on his shoulders to step up.

I feel like he will at home.

I do too. I have a good feeling about this game.
