Misty water-colored memories

Post#1 » by greenroom31 » Fri Jun 20, 2008 2:04 pm

Of the championship roster. Please add yours, as obviously many were left off. My favorite moments:

Tony Allen: When he revealed that he used to black out for a few seconds after big dunks. Also, gotta give the guy credit for coming back twice from knee problems.

Scalabrine: The post-game 6 interview where he called out all the members of the media who picked the Lakers earned him this year's salary for me.

PJ Brown: The quote "if you can't get along with PJ Brown, you can't get along with nobody". Also, game 7 vs. the cavs and that 12 footer.

Sam Cassell: Unfortunately for Sam, my best memory of him was the regular season game against the Spurs. Also, when he dropped about 15 f-bombs during a timeout was funny.

Big Baby: The monster game on the road at Detroit, defending Duncan, his ridiculous blog on the Herald that they stopped after the first month. His driving dunk in garbage time of the clincher.

Leon: KG said when he first got here he thought Leon was security. Leon in game 2 of the finals. Leon's dunk on the Hawks with KG pounding his chest and shouting in his ear all the way upcourt. The way that dude takes charges in the chest.

James Posey: The fade-away 3 pointer he hit to make it 92-87 in game 4 where he fell onto Beckham's lap. Also, his press conference with the super-bling reminding everyone he already got what they want. And of course the pep-talks before every game.

Eddie House: Eddie running back up the court screaming like a mo'fo after every big 3. Also, his diving on the floor to kick it back to Posey who got fouled. Think it was against Cleveland. And his funny handshake thing with Pierce during intros.

Rondo: Loves to roller skate. The ability to do the crazy wraparound crap with the ball because his hands are 2x to large. He calls Doc "Coach Rivers". He looks like he's 15. Game 6 -- unbelievable. Everyone talks about working on his jumpshot, but if he can finish consistently when he drives to the basket, he could be scary good.

Perk: "No layups". Announcers ripping on him in the Atlanta series and he comes out in game 7 with a 10 pt, 10 reb, 5 block first half. That poke steal he had on LeBron out on the perimeter. When he went behind his back after another steal (think it was last year). One of the most underrated big men in the league in my opinion.

Ray: Big shots vs. Toronto and Charlotte. That unbelievable up and under past Kobe, Gasol and Odom in Game 4. Beating Vujacic off the dribble for a layup same game. OCD.. trying to make Pierce switch seats on the plane out of superstition.

KG: The putback over Gasol off the Posey miss I will always remember. Head-butts before every game. The steal to cap the game at half-court after which he practically ripped his jersey off. Getting that shot to drop in game 6 after the Odom foul. The press conference with Pierce after game 7 vs. the cavs. His first game as a Celtics (20/20).

Pierce: There are honestly about a million big shots he has hit over the years, but the biggest thing I will remember about Pierce is that he played hard every game when the team was terrible, eliminated from playoffs, etc. PP always gave 100% for the fans and because he loves the game, and for that he will be one of my all-time favorites. Of course it doesn't hurt that he's got every offensive move in the book.

Ok fine -- the two memories for Pierce from this year are:

1) Blocking Kobe's fadeaway in sick fashion, grabbing the ball and getting it upcourt for a layup

2) The back to back 3s from the same spot after coming back from the knee injury in game 1

Legendary
