A Birdman may be flying into boston and FA rookie camp
According to marc spears there is a possibility the birdman could signing with the celtics. Healso has some of the players who will be attending the rookie free agent camp jackie mnuel, david noel, omar cook, mustapha shakur, lawrence roberts and brian butch which was reported by a milwaukee newspaper. Pruitt and baby will also be attending

Birdman? Oh god please no...
I get it. He is a white guy who dunks. But, the legend of this guy on every realgm board is insane. He stinks. Let's sign jackie manuel.

Re: A Birdman may be flying into boston and FA rookie camp
legend aside pickins are fairly slim this year for FA bigmen. andersen is an athlete that can run the floor and finishes well at the rim and on defense he was a fairly good shotblocker and rebounder before he was suspended. hes worth a look at the least.
and we dont need jackie manuel here. not after what we just drafted. what we need is a big that knows how to play. doc said he wanted this team to be more athletic. you have to at least do due diligence here.
a guy i mentioned as someone to look at possibly, jackie butler also plans to be there. he is definitely worth looking at. he had a few decent games last year.

If Birdman's head is on straight he could be of some value.
I'd prefer Zo over him anyday tho.

It's Jackie Butler, not Manuel.
Celtics forward Glen Davis, guard Gabe Pruitt, and first-round draft pick J.R. Giddens are expected to participate, as are ex-NBA players center Jackie Butler, forward Lawrence Roberts, and guards David Noel, Omar Cook, and Mustapha Shakur.

...great new...I like birdman a lot, high energy, good personality, great player...only suited more for pf, but if we could geet him for cheap that would be amazing move...
Jacie Butler is a guy I considered few month ago as the nb.1 underated center prospect in nba. He for shire must get a chance...if we sign both of them I would be thrilled
go Dany...great draft and great offseason as it looks like...

David Noel is Doc's guy. Very defensive-minded.

Roberts would be a nice addition to the bench. He might be another undersized power forward, though. He looked to be a promising role player for Memphis like a Leon Powe for Boston. I didn't understand why he wasn't a part of their future plans. Boston could've drafted him back in 2005 if they'd not selected Orien Greene.
About Chris Andersen, I prefer Diop but he's my second choice if willing to sign with the Celtics.
Plus, he'll fit right in on a Celtics team of players having interesting nicknames. And he adds size and brings athleticism and is still reasonably young at twenty-nine going on thirty. I believe he can fit into this offense and contribute defensively under Thibodeau.

No, not you...

That's the Birdman I'm talking about. Hey, let's all do "The Bird" together with Morris Day And The Time!

Jackie Butler is an intriging name here, he has a pretty good post game and is a beast of a guy. He simply ate up Powe and Baby last year in Summer League. He could be a good compliment to Perk, but there has to be something about him as to why he isn't on a roster. The celts brass really need to look at him during this camp and see what he is about.

Re: A Birdman may be flying into boston and FA rookie camp
chris andersen plays hard and could be a worthwhile depth guy. he can play some defense which is requirement number one, can board and run the floor, and maybe dunk a few times, which could fill a potential depth need for us

The irony is that this was written before Andersen would be reinstated back into the NBA. Now Ainge has an interest in him a year later.
I don't know, I like him. He has personality, albeit he comes of gimmicky. He's like Powe in a sense. He comes from humble beginnings. Wasn't he the first ever player to be called up from the NBDL? He'd gone undrafted. Like Garnett this year, he was certified.

Why Chris Anderson Should Get Reinstated, Will ’Birdman’ Land With Boston Celtics Or Other NBA Team?
My Quick Take: Anderson isn’t a bad guy; far from it, in fact. He had a rough childhood, surrounded himself with too many enablers once in the NBA, and started believing his hype as the wild birdman.
This led to his positive drug test two years ago and suspension. Unfortunate stuff. But nothing he can’t fix or come back from.
He is wiser. He has learned his lesson. And the NBA will likely let him return. Look for Anderson to sign with a veteran squad and make an immediate impact off the bench.
This article appeared in the Boston Globe, which is ironic because the Celtics would be a great destination for Anderson. He would provide the green-and-white with energy, athleticism, and defense. Doc Rivers, Boston’s coach, is great at building relationships with players, so he could provide support. And ’The Big Three’, Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett, and Paul Pierce, would take the media pressure off ’Birdman’. Anderson would also come cheap, an important consideration for the capped-out Celtics.

Re: A Birdman may be flying into boston and FA rookie camp
The last paragraph I guess was a different writer. I didn't notice it. Anyways, here's an article on Andersen but I don't know if this is the exact one that's being referred to in my other post.
http://www.boston.com/sports/basketball ... ce_points/
Andersen has been working out diligently in Las Vegas and Denver, and has hardly been a wallflower while serving the suspension. He has attended several Nuggets games and at least one Hornets game this season. He completed a rehabilitation program in Malibu, Calif., and has said he hasn't had a drink or taken drugs since the suspension. He also developed a friendship with Kevin Garnett while working out in Las Vegas.
Andersen was the first player to be suspended under the drug program since Stanley Roberts in 1999 and is the first to file for reinstatement since Roy Tarpley, who was banned in 1995. Tarpley's request was denied, so Andersen could be the first to be suspended and then return and contribute.
There's no denying Andersen's appeal and popularity among fans and teammates. The player universally known as "Birdman" has a Varejao-esque game, with the requisite amount of energy, athleticism, and enthusiasm. Said former teammate Andre Miller, "He brought a lot of energy to the game and he's a good guy to be around. He's going to get a second chance to prove himself and I know he's prepared. "He'll be good for a team that's looking for a guy who can bring energy, athleticism, rebounding, hustle, and get the crowd involved. That's what he did when we played together in Denver."

Yes, Jackie Butler, my bad. Anyhow, Birdman is atrocious. I don't want a white guy with long hair who smokes weed.
He had one good stretch in his career where he dunked a lit. That's it. Birdman stinks.
