http://www.boston.com/sports/basketball ... tte?page=2The Celtics hope to sign a veteran backup point guard to a one-year, veteran minimum contract, an NBA source said. Candidates include Eddie House, who would return for a second season with Boston, Dallas's Tyronn Lue, Orlando's Keyon Dooling, Miami's Jason Williams, and Chicago's Chris Duhon.
I would take whoever is the cheapest, but I would definitely like House to return.

Dooling and Duhon are both pretty bad shooters, so they're not going to help us when Rondo struggles with his shot and defenses pack it in and play off Rajon. White Chocolate can at least knock down a jumper and is a pretty able passer.
Plus, if he comes to Boston he could hang out with high school buddy Randy Moss all the time!

I wouldn't count on Rondo not being a very improved jumpshooter next season. But I agree that the Celtics need some variety at the PG position. Dooling and Duhon are just lesser versions of Rondo to some extent.

sorry boys, but Duhon isn't merely a lesser Rondo... certainly he is a pure point who has a great handle and will initiate the offense much, much quicker than Sam/Eddie have proven to be able to, & Duhon also has a rep (deservedly so) for being a good 1v1 and team defender at the point position, but the kid also has a tremendous 3 ball. I've watched him since his first minute played at duke and he has hit a number of clutch threes, contested threes, and threes far behind the arc. His release isn't as quick as Eddie's (and few if any could claim that), but I'd argue he almost creates better spacing because of a proven consistent 3pt shot as well as the ability to actually drive and distribute.
Also, coming from Duke and going through the roster turmoil and seemingly salty situation that has developed in Chicago (IE the team deciding to bench Noah), I think Duhon would love the opportunity to reacquire the taste of professionalism.

Yeah Duhon has a 3 point shot for sure. Him and Jason Williams should be able to find a starting role somewhere.
Looks like we can hope for a vet min from House or we may have to settle for Lue or Dooling. As long as Lue,Dooling, and House are on a vet min deal. they all have their advantages.
Suprised to not hear Damon Stoud's name not in the mix. I'd probuly rather have Lue at this point but I don't think they're that far off.

Don't Keyon Dooling and Ray Ray have some beef because Keyon through a cheap shot at Ray or something? I'd much rather have either Lue or Duhon. I would say Eddie is as good as gone.

No shot at Duhon. J-Will may come, but I don't like Keyon Dooling.Lue may be the safest vet after House.

My ranking would be as follows:
1. House
2. White Chocolate
3. Duhon
4. Lue
5. Dooling
But I will settle with whoever takes the least money.

The Knicks are interested in Duhon and could offer him the full MLE. He can probably get a starting job or a chance to earn a starting job.
Dooling's tall and would give our bench more athleticism, that's about it.

I don't want any part of Williams. Can't stand his game and Walker-esque pullup 3s during a 3-on-1 fast break.
It's less about offense and more about running plays and getting into them less than 8 seconds into the possession. For that reason I'm less concerned with Duhon's lack of a jumper, especially if we have a legit shot of bringing Maggette into the mix. I like Lue just fine for this team as he's fairly good all-around, but watching Williams' (lack of proper) decision-making would drive me nuts.

Duhon could sign with New York, Williams with Memphis and Lue with Phoenix. So, House could be back under another one-year contract.

Whomever decides to sign for the cheapest contract wins it, its pretty simple. Its all about money. My bet is that it could be either Dooling or Lue. I just think Duhon, House, and Williams can grab more money elsewhere.

Take House first, then Jason Williams... I'd hate to have Lue, Duhon or Dooling.

I like Duhon, Jason Williams. Maybe Roger Mason
Duhon is a decent 3 pt shooter by the way. If anything he just lacks the offensive intangibles you want from the PG position. Jason Williams likely brings the most offensive intangibles to the mix. Eddie House is obviously a solid option as well, and we know he fits in. Dooling - apparently we liked him last offseason....I don't know a ton about him but he seems to have been improving....not a shooter but shooting isn't everything....For the right prices Dooling would be an ideal guy to take Cassell's place if House stayed and we didn't expect Pruitt to be ready to contribute much.

Looks like Duhon will take a two-year offer from New York worth more than $7.0M.

What do you think will become of Telfair? I heard the Knicks are interested, but if they got Duhon, maybe he's out of the picture.
He'll probably sign for the minimum somewhere. I watched a lot of Minnesota games last year, and he seemed to be really figuring out how to run the offensive side of the floor. His defense was still atrocious, but on offense he made some good strides. Even though this was his fourth year, the guy is just a month younger than chris paul.

Telfair will be playing in Europe. The league is very hard on prospects once they losing the backing of their original team.. The GMs draft and acquire "new" players who they want to give a shot too. With so many players being PG size it's some brutal competition..

There is actually a lot of interest in Telfair around the league, likely for super short money, but he seems to be getting a lot of looks.
Duhon would be great he has no problem shooting the ball he just doesn't have much of a game going to the basket. Anyone who signs him to start has rocks in their head.
JWill supposedly wants to go back to Memphis. He is a great PG on offense but he is a terrible defensive player.
Dooling would be interesting. Not much of a playmaker but a steady ball handler and his shooting improved a ton last season to go with a great ability to get to the basket and get to the line. He has pretty good size and is at least an able defender.
