Here is my take on what we should do in the off season.

1. Resign James Posey - Posey wants to come back and he should give him the money that he wants, but for 2-3 years tops. People forget that Posey was a big part of the reason we won a championship. Having Posey is like having 2-3 players in one because he can do a lot on the floor. He can play 2-3 positions on defense, he takes charges, is a great team player, his teammates love him, he has experience and isn't afraid on taking key shots. Posey and House were big reasons why we won game 4 in L.A.

2. That brings me to Eddie House. See game 4 in L.A. Like Posey, House isn't afraid to take shots when the game is on the line. He took it too the Lakers in game 4. House also plays very hard and gives it his all. He also doesn't demand too many minutes and is an ideal back up for Rondo who plays 35 minutes a game. We need House's shooting.

3. We should forget about Maggette. I like Corey's game a lot but Maggette is a borderline all-star. He averaged 22 ppg last season and is one of the best players in the league at getting to the line. There is a very small chance he takes $5.8 million a year. The guy can easily get about $8-11 per year. IMO, he is better that Rashard Lewis and should get Lewis type of money.

4. Sign Chris Andersen and Randolp Morris if we can't get Zo. Andersen is a shot blocker how can play good D, he can rebound, and can bring energy off the bench. Morris is a young center that can play in the post and is a good rebounder with good size.

So to sum it up:

1.Resign Posey
2. Resign House
3. Sign Chris Andersen
4. Sign Randolp Morris.

Lineup:

SF: Pierce/Posey/Walker/Scalabrine
PF: KG/Posey/Powe/Davis/Anderson/Scalabrine
C: Perkins/Davis/Anderson/Morris
SG: Allen/Giddens/Pruitt
PG: Rondo/House/Pruitt

That is a versatile and deep lineup. There aren't going to be too many minutes for guys like Walker, Pruitt, Morris, Scalabrine, or Andersen. Anderson and Morris add young talent and size. Walker and Pruitt will get there chance next year.

Also having Walker go overseas like BFB mentioned will give us flexibilty to re sign TA if the price is right or bring back P.J. back again right around the all-star break.

I like it, especially the re-sign Posey part. He's just as vital to our success as any of the Big 3. I like Morris, and House is great because he's the anti-Rondo.

One, you dont just give a player what he wants unless is is a superstar. I do not want to be paying Posey 7.9mil a year at the ripe age of 37. We should do anything we can to get Maggette we are not getting any younger and he is EXACTLY what we need, scoring off the bench. Also there is only three teams under the salary cap and two of them are not even in conversations with him, and the third has 20 wing players and will never be good.

Maggs doesn't fit with us. We need a good defender so when Pierce isn't in someone can guard the best wing player, which Maggs can't do. If we don't sign Posey we need to sign Pietrus, so we have a wing stopper of the bench

Maggette would be by # 1 choice too. But again, I don't see him signing for $5.8 million. Also, if Brand signs with G.S., except L.A. Clippers to get Maggette back because they can offer him more money and we will be the best FA available after Brand is signed.

I've changed my mind about the whole Maggette thing, I probably wouldn't mind him anymore. Mainly because he's younger than Posey, I just know Posey brings so much to a ball club that doesn't show up on the stat sheet. I'd still prefer Posey over Maggette, but I'll no longer be mad IF we get Corey.

29 year old scorer off the bench, gets to the line, nails 82% from the line...I'll take it. I read somewhere that the only teams in the running for him were Boston and San Antonio, so if he wants to start, go to SAS, if he wants to win it all, come to Boston.

I agree that he'd be worth 2 years at the full MLE, for the reasons you stated (though not sure I'd stretch it to 3 years). As I recall, two years of full MLE was about what Horry got in '03, and he had a very similar year to the one Posey just had (high-end bench player with great intangibles who made some huge shots in the playoffs).

I'd still rather have Maggette of course, but Posey for two years would be great too.

Earlier I said for a big I would want R. Morris, Rondo's ex teammate in Kentucy. I would like to add Patrick O'Bryant to that list. Which ever is the better of the 2 between Morris and O'Bryant.

I know that O'Bryant hasn't done anything is the NBA yet. But the guy just turned only 22. He has still a lot of potential, is 7'0 tall with a 7-6 wingspan. Working under Clifford Ray will only help him a lot.

Another bench scoring option might be JR smith, he can be a bit of a headcase but the guy can really stroke the 3 and scored a dozen points off the bench for Denver in less then 20 mpg, thats some real production of the bench, word on him is he is a pretty good defender as well. if we miss out on Maggete and Posey he would be a good fall back for a little over half the midlevel.

Smith is actually a poor defender. One of the reasons that Denver got swept was beacause they didn't have anyone to guard Kobe. J.R. Giddens will be a better fit for us and I'm happy we drafted him.

JR Smith has the rep of a poor defender but by statistical/ +/- type indicators he's not that bad defensively. If anything, he's just not close to living up to his potential (governed by his insane athleticism) defensively, and hence maybe comes off as worse than he is.

Spin Move and I are in Phoenix and Suns fans like the guy because he went off against them and really impressed this past season when playing the Suns.

And another reason is they played Carmelo/Kleiza at the wings more than they played lineups including JR Smith
