Interesting options for the full/partial MLE

If it were possible and that player is willing... I would use the full MLE on either Ellis or Gordan.
Barry, Arroyo and Nachbar could be nice reserve options for cheap. I'm assuming that Andersen will be the center/forward addition. Randolph Morris' another option. Ainge might want to sign both of them, just in case. If for any reason to have the depth behind Perkins. Because there really isn't much left in way of a veteran center besides Mourning and K. Thomas and they'll likely return to their respective teams.
Apparently, by rumor, Snyder could wind up in Boston. Salim Stoudamire reads like a younger version of House. But, might have character or attitude issues. And Lue sounds like he's on his way to Phoenix.
Does anyone know how much the LLE is worth next season?
Group I: Restricted free agents
6. Monta Ellis, Warriors: He's young and he can score. Now that the Warriors have lost Baron Davis, re-signing Ellis is a priority. Though Ellis likely has few suitors, the Warriors will make him happy or risk that he'd take the midlevel exception.
8. Ben Gordon, Bulls: Of all the players who turned down lucrative contract extensions last summer, Gordon made the most mind-boggling decision. He turned down a five-year, $50 million deal that seemed above market value on a down season.
Group II: Unrestricted free agents
2. James Posey, Celtics: Posey helped himself with a strong performance against the Lakers in the Finals. He's another player who should get a three- to four-year midlevel deal somewhere.
7. Brent Barry, Spurs: He still can shoot the basketball. Even though he's 36 years old, a number of teams would love to sign him.
8. Carlos Arroyo, Magic: Arroyo isn't a sexy name, but the market has a shortage of point guards, and Arroyo was more than adequate as a backup in Orlando last season.
9. Bostjan Nachbar, Nets: Nachbar is coming off the best season of his career with the Nets. He's not a starter, but he can provide some shooting and offense off the bench.

The problem with guys like Ellis is if you offer the MLE, their team matches it in a heartbeat. Same thing with someone like Deng if you have some hope they might take less money from a contender. Maybe Childress could be had for full MLE if Atlanta commits too much money to Josh Smith beforehand.
Time to suck it up , just overpay Posey, and bring back last year's squad I think.

I was thinking, for example, that Ellis could accept the MLE since he won't get the $10M I believe he's seeking. Yes, the Warriors will likely match any offer from any team. However, Ellis is more of an off guard and they'd just signed Maggette who'll likely start there with S. Jackson as the small forward. Unless, the Warriors are convinced that Ellis can replace Davis as the starting point guard. I don't know, that's like trying to play Iverson or Terry at point guard. You aren't maximizing their full potential as a scoring threat. Like Arenas, Ellis' really a two guard.

I though Deng was unrestricted, no?

Ellis is a 2 guard, but he's still very young with the potential to better develop his PG skills (and the Warriors have been a decent team in the past with him starting @ PG). Especially if the Warriors don't view themselves as serious contenders this upcoming season, it makes sense that they let him handle PG duties, and gain some extra experience there. At least early in the season.
Anyways, GSW matches maything up to 10 Mil possibly more, if he can't get the 10 mil he's looking for he won't sign an offer sheet and will attempt to become unrestricted in the event he can't workout an extension.

I wouldn't mind having Gordon. I don't believe that the Bulls are looking to match an offer on him, but they'll probably prefer doing a sign-and-trade to get a player back for him. However, like Maggette, Gordon's another player who doesn't like to come off the bench. My feeling is Gordon's an upgrade over House's role. Could Boston do a sign-and-trade involving Posey for Gordon with Chicago if Posey won't budge from wanting four or five years at the full MLE?

I know it's practically impossible, but Deng would be absolutely awesome on this team. He's a great defender.

Guys like Deng and Ellis only accept the MLE if it is one year, so they become unrestricted next summer. Childress probably takes a multi-year MLE if ATL spends all its cash on Smith.

There's no way on earth Monta Ellis accepts a MLE offer. Have you guys even seen him play?

Perhaps, you missed where I'd initially wrote, "

Ellis won't come here for at least two reasons :
1. he's going to get way more than the MLE
2. he won't be coming off the bench on whatever team he's on
I would not be surprised if Danny :
1. Trade for Steve Blake (or Sergio Rodriguez
from Portland
2. Takes a complete flyer and goes for Shaun Livingston despite the knee
3. Danny tries to get Delonte West back via trade
4. Carlos Arroyo
.. those are in no particular order.. IMO, we should go after Steve Blake. Aside from being a smart player with experience, Mike Gordon would be very happy with that move.

The only Starbury that could be coming to Boston is a pair of his sneakers to someone living here who decides to purchase them online.
Marbury was in Seattle Wednesday, striking a deal with Amazon.com to sell the cheap sneakers online, The Post has learned. However, Marbury reports because of the failing economy, the Starburys will go up in price from $14.98.
Marbury told The Post that $1 of each sneaker sale will go to charities. Marbury's two-year contract with Steve & Barry's was ending and he wasn't likely to renew, feeling the discount retail store didn't have enough reach or have a Web site to sell the merchandise.
Marbury said the online sales at Starbury.com and Amazon.com will start during the Christmas shopping season. The Starbury sneaker and apparel line is still on sale at Steve & Barry's, slashed to $8.98.
