Lue is on the Bucks... who saw that coming?!?!

Post#1 » by shackles10 » Thu Jul 17, 2008 5:35 am

So he threw us all for a total loop and signed with MIL. Are Shaq and KG mad? Are we ok with Pruitt? Is House going to be resigned? Are we really just waiting on Marbury? So many questions, but the biggest one of all is why is Lue signing with the Bucks for the LLE?!?!

I'd thought, WTF...? But, then I'm thinking: It's Lue. I don't believe Lue would've signed here even before the Celtics ended up with Cassell. Milwaukee could make some noise next season.

If Marbury's Ainge's target... Then he might as well be targeting Tinley. I've this feeling somewhat that Ainge wants Livingston. But, when I think of Livingston, I imagine him as a potential Telfair mistake again. Maybe not, but you still have to be concern about his health. I mean even when he was healthy, Livingston didn't exactly have a NBA body.

Not that I think Indy is wanting a lot for him, but what do we have to match up with the Pacers to get Tinsley? I think Marbury is only an option, if he really is one, because it would be in the form of a vet. min. deal since he'd be cut. In the end I really don't care that Lue is on the Bucks, but it did shock me. We read nothing of this and I don't see where he gets the playing time either. It's not like he just took some huge contract for coming into a not so great situation either. I'm puzzled.

Bird is said the team wants a power forward in exchange for a deal involving Tinsley. I thought of Scalabrine and Davis, but Tinsley makes too much.

It sounds like Ainge is all set with someone else.

Bi-annual exception for Lue? That is way too much! I have no idea what the bucks are doing, they are throwing money around like the are the new knicks...

We need to re-sign House. Anyone know how much money/years he's looking for? I'd offer him 2 years $4.5 Mil and see if he takes it.

Thoughts on what Eddie should be offered and what he might take?

^^Now that Posey is gone I'd say House is someone we need to keep...losing both of those guys would be too much of a blow to the team and the bench.
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

Tinsley has always been a rather lazy player too. He's in terrible shape most of the time, and has been speculation on his decision to sit out for injuries/illness from time to time. Doesn't seem to listen to coaches/teammates real well either as I couldn't tell you how many times I've seen Pacer game threads with page after page of complaints that he would take a game over with little to no results without even trying to get others involved. The guy didn't play high school ball at all so it shouldnt' come as much of a surprise, but certainly the limitations with him are not talent-wise. Consider him a younger, pudgier Sam I am without the big cajones to hit meaningful shots at the end of games and championship experience. Translation... the only things we liked about Sam are lacking.

Nobody could possibly be worse than Telfair. He was the worst PG in Celtics history and an insult to the memory of Red Auerbach. However, I don't want Livingston because the threat of his leg snapping like a twig again is all too real, anyone who needs persuading needs to see this and you'll know why Livingston is damaged goods: http://youtube.com/watch?v=7kalIPs18BI&feature=related

The most gruesome injury I have ever seen in my life...

Eddie House was 10th on the team in mins played in the post season because he was unable to do the one thing he is supposed to do. Yes he played well in a couple of games against the Lakers but he is who he is and he is not a player you make a financial commitment to.

Tinslely is terrible and his contract is worse.

Livingston isn't a bust, he was a very good player before he got hurt better than Rondo offensively. I really like the idea of bringing him in, especially since he then allows you to go after and undersized SG.

I liked the idea of Marbury a lot more when Posey was here, I am real iffy on it now.

Telfair wasn't the worst ever point guard to wear a Celtics uniform. Ainge's mistake was trying to sell Telfair on the fans before Telfair did anything. How many Celtic players from recent memory do you know of that had his own commercial that didn't deserve one? Blame Ainge or blame the network for green lighting the ad campaign for Telfair. But, Telfair was given the ball and he failed. Sounds like he'd done well in Minnesota, though.

How can you score 10ppg and dish out 6apg and have a PER of 10? Play like Sebastian Telfair. He sucks.

Ugh, I would rather have Marbury over tinsley too. I hate tinsley. Based on many different things.

To answer the OP, yeah, I was stumped as well when lue went to the bucks. I heard him and KG are good friends, and if your going to pass that up, and pass up another winning team in the suns, well I have no idea what your thinking.

Livingston was not better than Rondo offensively, by any metric. Comparable, possibly, but to say better is completely misleading. He had alot of 'P' (potential) and as many holes in his game. I agree he was not a "bust", but he certainly hadn't come close to living up to his billing, either. And when you factor in the possible loss of lateral quickness and what that may mean to his ability to stay infront of the new wave of super quick guards, Livingston is a long shot to return to anything close to what made him a top 5 pick.

Equal is more accurate and that is only on the offensive end, but I think that he has a better jump shot and is a little bit better creating off the dribble in the halfcourt but that again may simply be that you actually have to defend his pull up jumper.

I have no idea the severity of his injury or were he his at besides it was bad. But he is also 22 not 32 the chances of maintaining his quickness which he had plenty of is quite real. He is also a player whose skill set was as much his gift as his athletic ability. While he may not be an All Star PG now that isn't what Boston is looking for they are looking for backup.

I'm sure it was a good chunk more than what other teams offered. It's Tyronn Lue were talking about so ofcourse it's not a huge payday.
