The above link tabulates how we performed last year at each position. Clearly, GPA dominate thier positions. Our weak link were Rondo and Perk. DA made a comment in his recent interview about how much the playoffs have developed both Rondo and Perk. He said it was like another season of experience for them.

It seems that on balance our starting 5 is substantially better at the start of this year than it was at the start of last year. GPA each may have lost a bit. Perk's issue has always been his mind. He used to think he wasn't good enough, made a mistake and got rattled. Now he knows he's good enough. He has far less confidence issues as he is a champion.

Rondo actually did it. A Sophmore PG took the team all the way. Cassel was a waste. House was on the bench. Rondo pretty much carried the position and he was injured. He's young and still makes bonehead plays. But compared to the start of last year he's improved a lot. He has more experience than most starting PG, because most of them never get to the finals, in their entire career.

We have continued to develope, especially our young starters.

I think the analysis carries for our bench. It doesn't mitigate the loss of Posey completely, but Powe and Baby now are better than Powe and Baby of last year. Too early to make the call on the bench. Our starters are better.

I think Rondo has a very long way to go development wise and put up a pretty putrid postseason compared to his regular season.

Watching the team play 4 on 5 for every team that played defense [not LA or ATL] was horrible to see. And House even was the best PG for us during one of the games simply because he keep his man out at the perimeter and gave the ball away as soon as he could.

Rondo has potential and we NEED him to develop some semblence of an offensive threat because we can't have to play 4 on 5 with him out there.

If not then we need Perk to develop a mid range jumper. The only diffrence is Perk has supposively had that jumper for years... yet it never has been used probuly because it doesn't exsist. Rondo has an actual probability of developing something offensively. We would be a 100% more dangerous playoff team last year if Rondo had a mid-range jumper. Of course I guess if Rondo had one he'd be a top 10 PG and we wouldn't have been able to trade for him. Oh well, here's hoping he develops!

Saying that Rondo had a putrid offseason is completely incorrect. He had an inconsistent postseason and everybody should have expected that from him since he was a 2nd year pg. The problem was that when Rondo had his bad games, we needed Cassell to step up and he didn't.

How can you say a player had a putrid postseason when he put up these games...

Of course, I can probably make a similar list of bad games, but that was to be expected. Next year, I would expect more of the good games and less of the bad games.

Yeah I agree. that is 11 great games out of 26 total. He will be so much better come next april. HE showed flashes of it, evident by MVP 16's post.

This is clearly Danny Ainge's line of thinking as well. Danny is counting on Rondo and Perk being able to handle larger roles and more MPG. If you get Perk up to 30 MPG and Rondo up to 35 MPG the need for help up front and in the backcourt is dramatically less.

Ideally the Celtics can pick up a solid combo guard to take the bulk of the minutes behind Rondo and Ray, with Giddens/Pruitt sliding in for a few minutes.

Behind Perk and KG you can use Powe, Davis, and O'Bryant to split up the 35 or so minutes available.

IMO, with Rondo and Perk likely improving next season the big needs are at the 1-2-3 spots.
