Now that House and TA are back,

Post#1 » by MVP4LIFE » Mon Jul 21, 2008 7:28 pm

is there a possibility we trade Gabe Pruitt (800k) and Brian Scalabrine (3.3 mil) for a resigned Ryan Gomes?

The Wolves need a back-up PG and wouldn't mind adding another good guy to their bench. Pruitt would be an ideal back-up PG for Foye and fits the Wolves' young movement.
We add Gomes as our SF back-up, who can score/rebound and do some of the dirty work. Plus he liked playing for the Celtics in the past.

Rondo/House/R.Allen
R.Allen/T.Allen/Gidden
Pierce/Gomes/Walker
Garnett/Powe/Davis
Perkins/O'Bryant/Garnett

I think this team has the potential to be even better than last years' championship team.

Unless we sign another PG, I think we're going to need a 3rd PG... I honestly don't think Ray-Ray is a PG... I think we're going to need Pruitt to be that guy.

Nobody wants Brian Scalabrine and a guy who has only played in 15 nba games.

You think Ray..Allen can dribble the ball.

Are you kidding me? The same Ray Allen that has to run to mid court when a trap comes. The same Ray Allen that twice this season dribbled the ball off his knee. The same Ray Allen that couldn't penetrate to the hoop off the dribble to save his life. Hell half of the fun of watching Sasha get walked by is the patheticness of Ray Allen's shoulder fake.. no NBA defender should ever be paralized by a half juke of one shoulder..ever. And that sounds like a ball handler to you?

I'd love to have Brian Scalabrine traded, I'd love to have the roster spot open. Hell if I could I'd just trade him straight up for Scot Pollard because at least if not hurt Pollard could help this team. But there is very little reason for anyone to take on Scalabrine's contract. Who is a cancer that is making 3 mil for a team looking for 2010 capspace that can help our team so much that they would take on Scal's deadweight just to get rid of him? It's very unlikely there is anyone who fits those parameters in teh NBA.

Then you have to factor in that Pruitt is hopefully going to take over the role of backup PG for some time this year because we don't have a ballhandler outside of Pierce or Rondo right now that can be trusted.

And all this to get Ryan Gomes, an mid range shooter that doesn't really fit our system but is a great character guy. God we could of signed a more proven SF in Barnes to do the same thing. At least Barnes is known to have a tough streak defensively.

yeah, Ray really sucks....amazing that we won the championship with that deadweight on our team.

No one in his right mind, especially Ray, IMO, would see him as a point guard. I've rewatched the Detriot and LA series that I DVR'd and he was certainly huge in a few of the Pistons games and in all of the Celtics' LA wins. Factor in the constant double team that the Cav's put on Ray and he was pretty close to the playoff MVP.

Nice post.

There is no way Minny takes Scal. He is one of the least tradeable contracts in the NBA. The only way anyway takes Scal is if it is to make salaries match on a much bigger deal (a deal involving superstars, and the team taking scal would be the one getting the superstar) or if another worse contract (Mark Blount bad) comes back to Boston.

Why not sign austin croshere to a minium contract instead. It would be a steal to get gomes for that but minnesota probably wouldn't do that.

Do not put the ball in Ray Allen's hands unless he is going straight to the hoop. Celticfan is absolutely right. We need Pruitt.

First of all, I'm a little bit surprised to read these things about Allen. I don't see him as a PG, but I put him there b/c Doc has talked about using Ray there before we signed Sam. We could just resign Sam for the minimum, but I don't know if that would work either.
But the Wolves just signed Telfair, so they won't need Pruitt anyway. And since we apparently believe Barnes is better than Gomes, this trade might as well be forgotten..

No, he is not in the bottom 20 bad contracts anymore, his deal is only for 3 mil a year, a total og 6.6 million over 2 years, yes he sucks but its not that an untradable deal like it was 2 years ago, its a 3 mil a year, lets say we wanted to trade powe to a team that badly needed a PF Scal and Powe would get us something, we still need to move him with something of value as he is pretty useless but he is not a cancer just a bit overpaid about 1.5 million in the nba thats not that much

That'd be hilarious just to have Brian Cardinal, Mark Madsen, and Scalabrine on the same team.
