I really believe what he said.
No one is going to short change themselves on market value unless it's for additional playing time, and in emotional cases, comfort.
It's just, The C's are strapped. They've go 25 million, 20 and like 18 going out the door with the big 3.
( dont quote me on the numbers) but it's around that figure. everything else is nickle and dime. Sure people want to play for the C's, but not for much less than they can provide for their kids.
Ask your self a rhetorical question...
I you could make 3million/ 2.5 million after taxes for one year and one year only
would you take that, over...
7 mil over 3 years, 1.6 after taxes?
money, money, money, money, money is a mind job of decsion.
I cant fathem what the pro's are thinking.
You know they are tossing and turning. It's a hard decision.

i dont disbelieve what he said, but for many pro athletes having more money than you could reasonably spend doesnt mean you dont want more when its considered a status symbol

Doesn't matter if everyone wants to play here, if we don't offer them enough money, they won't come.

There are players that are in the same position Posey was last year. They are not getting big or long offers. Those are the players who will decide that playing for a contender and appearing on tv alot is worth a couple hundred thousand. They are likely to only sign a one year deal and then like Posey cash in their new found fame. Nothing wrong with that.

Who's out there that's worth paying significant money too? Outside Maggette there was no UFAs deserving of the full MLE. Outside a few guys like Posey there were no UFAs worth more than the minimum. This was a horrible FA class, people knew this before we even started the season.
