Okafor?

Post#1 » by BlamePitino » Tue Jul 22, 2008 5:56 pm

Charlotte apparently is ready to "move on" from him. Is he worth pursuing? And could we put together a decent offer? Yes, we're trying to free up cap space for 2010, but remember, a lot of big aquisitions go down via S & T.

We don't have anything to offer for him or the cap room

Okafor wants $12 million a year. Not going to happen.

Perfect player for us, but, I don't see the MLE not getting matched. He is going to take a 1 year tender.

it's not Charlotte that wants to move on, its him and the reason is money
he isn't even close to an option at this point, lets be serious

I would love Okafor on the Celtics, but how would we get him?

When I saw the thread title I got excited for a second. Emeka would be great here. I don't see any way that it happens, though.

If Emeka would sign in the $10mil range we could do

Okafor + Richardson

for

Perk + Ray

not sure i'd do it, but at least i think that's fair.

Perkins/Scalabrine/Powe/Pruitt should work, but it also strips the cubbards bare and the Bobcats would have little interest

Yes they do. Thats how big names change teams most often, because most teams do not have the cap space. Only difference is that those teams have prospects and expiring contracts they can move. We have one young stud, and he happens to be our starting point guard.

There is no way we can pass on this deal. We upgrade both positions as Allen has maybe two more yrs left at this level while Richardsin has 6 to 7 yrs left. Okafor while injury prone is also clearly better then Perkins who is also injury prone.

Isn't the whole point of a S&T is to allow teams to acquire players they could otherwise not afford under the cap?

Anyway, I agree it's extremely unlikely, though it'd be beyond awesome if it somehow went down.

Wow, no way Bobcats do that deal. Okafor >>> Perk. Richardson >>> Ray as far as the Bobcats are concerned, they're built for the future not for the now.

Could Rajon Rondo makeup the difference? I'd rather keep the team as constituted if so, but I am just curious. I agree that deal is an absolute pipe dream.

Well if Okafor isnt going back to Cha then Perk would be >>>> than Okafor to them plus isnt Cha Rays home town? Either way Okafor has no chance of coming to Bos.

And I wouldn't think about adding Rondo to that deal. Why send away three starters from the championship team?
