What are your expectations for Allen now that he's settled in with a new contract? We all want him to be James Posey, but realistically, what kind of production do we see coming from Mr. Allen?

IMO, i can see tony potentially getting 20-25 mins per game, 7 ppg, 3asp, 3rpg and playing SMART and solid defense. If tony can become the same guy we saw before the second injury, we will have no problem forgetting about james posey. I just pray he takes the ball to the basket with confidence and tenacity.

I agree about the minutes, but I think he'll average at least double figures in points next season. He averaged 6.6 points a game last season, playing behind Posey and getting erratic minutes when he did play. So, with health and stable playing time, he should be able to improve upon that, maybe along the lines of 12 points per game.

I expect his rebound average to be around 3-4 per game, his assists probably between 1-2 (unless he plays a lot of point, which I don't think he will), and steals between 1-2 a game. Hopefully, he can keep his turnovers down too, somewhere below 1.5 per game. I also expect his 3 point attempts and percentage to go up as well, hopefully to around 35%.

Most of all, I expect some dominant defensive performances, 15 or so 20-point efforts, lots of dunks and steals, and that he'll bring tons of excitement to the game (along with Giddens and Walker, when they get minutes). But don't be surprised if he starts the season slow. Even in his injury shortened breakout year, he struggled the first month. Doc needs to have confidence in him, and let him play through his mistakes.

If his knee is okay, I can see him sliding effortlessly into the 6th man role. When healthy, he always seemed like the kind of player who needs steady playing time to really find his groove and be effective. Now he'll get it. I have faith that he'll be great.

i think 10/5 in about 24 mins is reasonable for Tony.

i think he, house and powe will be the only reliable players off the bench. TA has a good change to average double digits. a bold guess would be

Tony can rebound and facilitate smooth in the open floor

Baby is reliable
TA 25/min= 10-12/5/3 with elite defense

Tony needs an importantly consistent role for us to see good Tony.
He plays better as a starter, but first guy off the bench for the 09 champs is dam important---we'll need his offense and defense-------he is in position to have a special year

Stay healthy Tone

i expect tony to be much improved from last year
he will be much more confident with his knee
and with no Posey he will be depended upon more, and therefore much more confident in his role with the team as a valuable member of the 8-9 man rotation
remember he started most of his rookie season and into the playoffs that year, tony when healthy, is a player

My expectation is for him to dissapoint me, thats what I am used to with tony allen, he either plays studpid or gets hurt, I wish we would have gone other ways in free agency.

It's about health and confidence with Tony, and they're both interrelated. The confidence will be there if he's healthy, and his production on the floor will increase heavily with this occurring. So basically, it's about health--bottom line.

Tony Allen's new nickname should be called "the cat".

i dont know what i expect but i certainly hope for those kinds of numbers. i hope to see him back to attacking the rim and getting to the line. i hope to see him back to catching backside lobs from rondo and paul. i hope to see him filling lanes in transition and a few thunderous exclamation points. i hope to see a confident jumpshot. and i hope to see him and rondo in the backcourt together on occasion and creating havoc.

i have high expectations. i have never been a big TA fan, but here is his opportunity.

He needs to man up and play big. He has shown flashes, but has never had consistancy.

I think Tony, Perk, Powe and House all have the opportunity to break into double digits for average scoring this season--in declining order of probability.

I'd add Baby to that list too. He's a baller.

Well, Tony played about 18 MPG last year, even with Posey here. Now, I'd say 1/3 to 1/2 of PoZ's minutes were actually as a PF in our smallball lineup, so Tony really won't get those minutes. But he has a real opportunity to add on an extra 8-10- minutes:

I agree with everything except Pruitt playing 8 mpg.

You've got 12 guys in the rotation there, and I suspect Doc will reduce that to a 9 (maybe 10) man rotation. Some games, Pruitt, Giddens and Davis won't play at all. Some games, House, O'Bryant and Giddens will sit. Some games, a starter will get the night off and someone who doesn't play a lot will.

If you're looking for the normal 9 man rotation that Danny talked about the other day, I guess it would be the starters (Rondo, RAllen, Pierce, KG and Perk) plus House, TAllen, Powe, and Davis (Scal or POB depending on matchups). Typically, I think you might see something like:
1. Rondo..35
2. RAllen..35
3. Pierce..35
4. KG......35
5. Perk....30
6. House..20 (@ 1 and 2)
7. TAllen..20 (@ 2 and 3)
8. Powe...20 (@ 4 and 5)
9. Davis, Scal, or POB...10 (@ 4 and 5)

On a night that House doesn't play, Pruitt gets his minutes, similarly when Tony doesn't play, Giddens (or Walker) gets his minutes...and maybe the starters play a little longer. On nights a starter rests (and I see Doc giving the vets more games off this year) it will be important for the backups to really step up.
