My offseason notes.

1. Nets looking to just get rid of sean williams and stro. We don't really have proper salaries, but to find a way to give a future pick and crap for williams, i would do. He is defensive, energy, and runs. I like what i see in him.

2. last year at this time we were still fighting with knicks fans on if danny was a worse gem the isiah. 11 months later, isiah is canned and danny has ex year trophy. WE WIN>

3. and he keeps it up, keeping coaching staff together is > losing posey. Also adding young talent to an aging team, good work still.

4. If head on straight, tony can do better as 6th man then posey, if he stays aggressive and drives to the hoop. Posey rarely did it, and TA is a better defender then posey, really he is. U just don't want him spotting up for 3's and jumpers like posey, he is horrible at it. I say bring him in for pierce first so ray is out there to open up lanes for TA to drive.

5. Other teams getting stronger, but it's nice to see we for sure have another great chance to win championship next year.

Sean Williams became a nobody after Kidd got traded to Dallas. I would like to try him with KG.

OMG I would absolutely love to get Williams. I don't get why the Nets are trying to unload him. What would it take?

It would probably take more than we will give.

I've wanted Williams back in Boston. A front line rotation of Perk/KG/Powe/Willliams would be scary.

Glad to see you posting again. I've had this thought for a while, I figure I'll share it here. I'm a TA fan, so I don't mind giving him this shot to see how things pan out for at least one season in a significant role. But, I feel I should highlight the aspect of Posey's game that may be missed that gets overlooked. He was one of the few wings who actually cut hard to the basket looking to score off the pass. Worked very well off of KG. I hope someone else can step up their game this season to provide the same threat.

If TA does his thing w/ his head right we could be a lot better than 08
Kepping coaching Staff together is huge
we got younger and way more atheletic------and bigger upfront (though i would like another 7' that can contribute)

We should easily start the season as the Favorites to win 09
unless everyone ovestimates posey or understimates the impact Tony should have

The big thing that the Celtics are going to miss without Posey is his timely 3 point shooting. When he was in the game if teams collasped on KG or Pierce he would be there to nail the 3 pointer. He was like the Ray Allen for the 2nd unit in that regard. Watch the NBA Finals over again and you will see his shooting was huge.

Tony Allen will not be able to be that 3 point shooter with the 2nd unit. The middle will probably become more congested because Posey is not out on the wing. A 3 point shooting wing and another center type is the two weaknesses I still see with the Celtics. I'm not worried about the point guards with Rondo, House & Pruitt.

That being said, the Celtics should still be the favorites to win the Finals once again.

There was a time when Pierce had confidense in Tony and started to pass him the ball on cuts to the basket for easy baskets, then Tony got hurt. Am I the only one who remembers the type of game Tony once had before his injury? When that injury occured I told everyone that it would take a couple of years to totally get back the use of that knee without wearing a knee brace, as my son had the same injury happen to him. The only differense is Tony had better care for that knee in the long run. Tony is going to make everyone's job easier on the court as teams really have to double him when he drives to the basket, and the one thing that Tony has done well while rehabbing that knee and playing is he learned how to dish the ball. This past year while not having total confidense in his knee he actually got better at something.

Posey's 3-ball was great, but it hid a more glaring problem: We were a team of jumpshooters, especially off the bench. When Pierce was sitting there was basically nobody who could get to the rim. Powe was the only inside threat we had, and he's not someone you can rely on as a go-to guy. With Tony getting more minutes I think this could be a major plus. It will actually open things up for guys like Ray and Eddie when Pierce and Garnett are on the bench.

I agree with your points and I believe TA will play a decent role for the Celtics this season but I still think the Celtics need another 3 point shooter at the wing like Michael Finley, Mo Evans etc.

Bringing Williams back to Boston would be a mistake. He never was around for BC practices and constantly was getting high with his buddies. I think he'd have a hard time avoiding doing that again in a return trip. It took him like 8 incidents to finally get kicked out of BC. He's not good enough to get that kind of leeway in the NBA.

I wouldn't really want Sean, if the putrid Nets don't want him-somethings wrong with him

That maybe but I don't put much stock into anything the Nets do.

TA needs a significant role to be TA-----he should help a ton with 2nd unit or even 1st unit scoring droughts; he creates his own offense slashing and has a decent midrange and 3pt shot
25-30 mins a game--if injured JrG or BW will have to become a factor

either way i like the change to becoming more athletic and not getting put in a bind by overdoing Posey

an NBA player who smokes weed??!? NO WAY!!

the only difference between him in college and guys in the pros is they have enough loot to hide their tracks.

why do we need another when we have eddie house, scal and even gave pruitt who can shoot with range?

Even if he was in physical decline, Posey is the closest thing we have to a modern day Robert Horry in my estimation.

Neither were ever that athletic but they played very crafty. Both were shrewd players who would would get to their opponents' heads by less than honorable means.

Most importantly, both have championship rings on multiples and both could hit from range in the clutch when it mattered most.

Like Horry, I see Posey saving his top gear for the post season as his career nears its twilight. Aside from what Posey contributes to the stat sheet, it is his grit and will that will REALLY be missed.

Maybe Ray Allen can take on more of that silent assasin/shut down artist role like I hoped he would since the Celtics acquired him. His defense on Kobe wasn't bad for a guy who supposedly couldn't defend...

I have to say that House, Scal, and Pruitt don't come close to giving you what Posey gives you. Not even in you just count shooting...
