PGA's 2008-2009 Minutes

Post#1 » by amaj10 » Sat Jul 26, 2008 6:49 pm

What's everyone's expectations for PGA's minutes in the coming season. Personally, I think early on we'll see them playing less minutes. Early last year they needed to play more minutes to develop the team's chemistry.

I expect the actual mpg to stay about the same, but the total minutes for all of them to go down. I'm hoping Doc gives them a few more games off during the season.

Last year, all three played just about every game they were healthy. Paul only got 1 game off the whole year and almost all of the games off for Ray and KG were injury related. This year I could see Doc planning ahead to give the vets/starters (including House and especially Ray) a few games off, here and there, during the season just to keep them fresher for the playoffs.

Reducing their minutes is fine and everything but it is absolutely essential we get homecourt throughout the playoffs again. Essential.

Minuets need to be reduced, but we shouldn't give up the top spot in the NBA, home court will be less important now since they Big Three have been together through one championship

Hopefully none of them will be playing more than 34-36 minutes at the most until playoff time. It depends on how effective the bench is though. If Tony, Leon, Glen and Eddie all play well then it should be no problem kepping their minutes right down.

And I don't see the need for homecourt advantage being as high as it was last season. The experience and confidence from winning it all, particularly finally getting that monkey off our back of winning important playoff games on the road (two in Detroit, one in LA), should give these guys the confidence to win a series regardless of where they are playing. Particularly since their championship came of the back of defence and intensity.

as it stands now, Pierce is going to play 48 mpg.
A 3 man of some way shape or form is yet to be signed, and will be before the season starts.

That being said, They'll get 38-40 each.

All this talk about home court not being as important this year......PLEASE. Gimme a break. We were taken to 7 games by Atlanta and Cleveland and now the big 3 are a year older. I don't want to hear about how their experience will prevail this year even without home court. We need home court.

i don't think HC is nearly as important this time. we'll have HCA in the early rounds regardless. and in teh ECF we did just fine on the road, in fact we were 2-1 both at home and at the Palace. ATL and CLE were early round jitters in the first playoff series for this team. next year we'll be much more confident going in.
