Small Forward

Post#1 » by Celtics_85 » Mon Jul 28, 2008 8:47 pm

We have talked about guys out there in free agency and we have discussed our two draft picks. I have to ask if we have any trade exceptions and if there is anyone out there that we could pick up with it? Is this another option we would look at? Does Ainge even want to add another SF to this team or go with what we have and maybe look at the Center spot?
There are a few different ways we could go with the rest of the off season, so how do you see it playing out?

I see us doing nothing except signing Giddens and possibly Walker (if he doesn't go overseas...which might happen apparently). I think we go into training camp with what we have...the supposed 'hole' at the three won't be a problem. I think Tony/Giddens/Scal/Walker can handle those precious 12 minutes a game that Pierce rests. As Pete has said on other threads, Ray can move over to the 3 when Tony subs for Paul. It's really a non-issue.

Of course, Ainge might surprise us. If he does, my guess would be either Darius Miles for the minimum, or a veteran big. Other than that, we are what we are....which should be fine. As always, the only thing that derails this team is an injury to the wrong player.
The leaks are real...the news is fake.

I'm just here for the memes.

I don't see us adding anyone unless it's Miles. Believe it or not, going into this season we're going to have more wing players than last year (Lost Pose added JR and SkyWalker), so it seems like Miles doesn't exactly fit our need unless we want to play him at the 4 a lot. We could use another C, but if we go that route, I think we'll wait and see what unfolds throughout the season.

I'm really intrigued by O'Bryant, Ainge seems to think that he's all we need at the Center position and in the workouts he was more productive than guys like Andersen. According to the interview after his introduction, he has range out to 20 feet. All we asked PJ Brown to do was hit a 14 footer when open, so O'Bryant should be more than capable.

I'd be shocked if we added anyone at this point who would be a rotation player. We'll use TA and Giddens as backup SFs. Or maybe Scal if we need a big SF. Paul plays 40 mpg in any meaningful games anyway.
