Finley,Wells or Miles?

I really think Danny wants another proven shooter and that Finley is the best option out there is shaky defense notwithstanding. He has decent size and he could be an end of game player where we need a good outlet shooter/free throw shooter. Posey was so good at that- I still can't believe we let him go. Wells and Miles are still available as well although neither of those guys are what I would call shooters. I thought that Kareem Rush might be an option but he's going to sign with the sixers. The other direction Danny could go in is to sign a long player like Miles. Miles obviously has a number of hurdles to overcome including health concerns as well as the whole insurance issue etc with Portland. For those of you unaware the GM of Portland, Kevin Pritchard, is a former Celtic. That doesn't mean he's going to help us with the Miles situation. Apparently he has already spent Miles's cap room based on Portland's assessment and belief that Miles had retired due to his injury. If Miles signs with the celtics obviously that means he's capable of playing and Miles's salary get reinstated on Portland's cap which causes them all kinds of problems so Miles is a long shot. I feel like Giddens and walker can give us depth at the 2 and 3 and would just as soon go that route but they are rookies and thier contributions this coming year are questionable which is why I'm sure Danny is looking for a veteran . On an unrelated topic if I'm the bulls I would trade gorden and tyrus thomas to atlanta for josh smith. I would even toss in another player if necessary. The bulls still have gooden and larry hughes etc so they could easily give up a couple of nice players and get back a young stud like smith. heck I would even try and trade ben wallace who has nothing left. atlanta would get a big man to replace smith plus a guard to replace childress and maybe more. I think it helps both teams

Well the fact that people on this board hate players with "issues" that should eliminate Wells and Miles.
Id go with
Wells #1
Miles #2
Finley #3
from what I read it seems like Danny likes Darius though

I'd go with Miles because I'm intrigued by players who make a comeback with something to prove (granted, Miles hasn't been the NBA poster child for determination), and I like his length and potential to be disruptive on defense. I think he could give us a defensive look that Finley and Wells can't duplicate. And I have hunch that he still has plenty of game left in him. Remember, he's only 26--- he might be able to make it most of the way back from the injury.

Honestly, I agree with Tricky Ricky's assessment. Finley can't really do much besides shoot anymore. Not that Finley would be a bad pick-up, per se, but he'd hardly be a Posey "replacement."

Does anyone seriously think that any of those guys would actually be in the rotation?
They all suck. Wells is the only one who has a chance, but he is known for his low BBIQ and lackadaisical effort on D, not things that win you PT here in Boston. Not to mention his "issues".
I don't mind any of those guys at the vet min, but let's face it, if they become anything more than garbage time contributors, our season has gone down the tubes.
The one thing that worries me about signing a vet is that Doc will play him at the expense of Giddens/Walker/etc even when the young kids are better.

Add Devean George to the list... I think they like someone with good size who they can use at pf for small ball... Also, George has a decent outside shot...
I can't see either Wells or Finley being signed..

Wells may be out of our price range. He won't go for the minimum, so we'd have to throw the rest of the MLE his way. I do question his motivation during the season, but he does have a reputation for stepping up in big games. He had 25 and 9 against us this year, probably because he was motivated playing against the team with the Best Record. I still remember the series against the Spurs when he was in Sacramento.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=uca66cK-WrAIf he can give us 2 or 3 games like that during the post season, I really wouldn't care if he does nothing the rest of the year.

The C's are not going to take on anymore salary unless the player is definitely going to improve the team. I'm pretty sure that signing Miles would not count against the cap so he is the only possibility. Also, another low risk/ high reward type.

Particle man said it well. Anyone we sign is not going to be a rotation player. We made our bed with Tony and he's going to be the primary backup at the wing. I could see us signing Finley and using him situationally; or signing Miles and seeing if he's healthy and able to play situation minutes at the 3/4 in a small or big lineup. Wells is just too unpredictable; though if Paul came down with an injury, Wells is a decent fallback option. Still, I think Tony's going to be given every opportunity to succeed and Wells just gets in the way of that...

Wells is this best player but it is the rest of it that is a problem. He needs mins as well, he is not the kind of guy who you can yo yo his mins and he stays focused or even comes to practice for that matter.
Miles makes the most sense as he fills the position of need the most, and if he is actually able to play he is only 26, he is more than a one year solution.
I can't honestly say what Finley has left at 35 years old. I would be fine with him coming here I always liked him as a player but he was also playing 27 mpg and starting last year is he willing to play for the minimum and get 15 mpg and more importantly deal with Doc jerking with them.
I think if what Boston is looking for is a 9-12th man to be a big SF then George might be the best fit if not the best player.
I guess each player fills a need it just depends on what need Boston is trying to fill the most.
If it is a shooter then Finley
Insurance for Ray or Paul then Bonzi
A big 3 then Miles
End of the rotation 'please don't make me play friggin Scal' guy, then George.

Didn't Wells play in Houston with Thibodeau? Maybe his relationship with him is okay. If so, I'd rather have him than the other three. When properly motivated, Bonzi is a good individual scorer and very adept rebounder, as well as a solid defender. When lazy, he's a ballhog, turnover machine who doesn't know the meaning of a defensive rotation. Very Jekyll-Hyde.

Miles, if only because out of the collection of stiffs we are referring to he's the most likely to have the cheapest, shortest contract. Miles is the youngest of the bunch too, he might surprise people, who knows.

Not sure if Danny wasn't clear enough when he said he's not interested in anyone else.
Finley will be with the Spurs
Miles won't be playing
Wells will remain a FA or picked up by someone else.
... and the Celtics don't add anyone.

Miles by mile with Wells and Finley. Gave this guy (Miles) a chance one year contract and second year team option.

Were and when did he say that? I have already read your thread about how "i'm not chasing anyone" somehow translates to "were done." It clearly is not the same thing.
As recently as Sunday Spears said that the Celts were still interested in Miles and hinted that
Livingston was also out there.

Miles for vet min. Though if Livingston can be had for the vet min - Livingston.
Both of those guys have good NBA talent. Though Livingston has always been overrated with regards to being a future star...still very talented when healthy.
