Pierce in the news for "driving erratically"
This marks Pierce's second appearance on TMZ by my count or to my knowledge. The other inccident involved Verne Troyer (a.k.a. Mini-Me).

Translation:
1. He shouldn't have been driving.
2. The police overreacted by handcuffing him.
3. They tried to make amends by letting him off the hook for a minor traffic violation of the kind that nobody else gets ticketed for either.

This really irks me...Come on, Paul! Enough partying around the fricking globe already! Wasn't it just a month or two ago when he was making fun of Carmelo for getting a DUI? Geez...Why can't he keep himself out of the news this summer?

Re: Pierce in the news for "driving erratically"
I think the police let Pierce go because he flashed his trademark smile. No, that's odd since it became more about the illegal lane change than Pierce failing the Breathalyzer test. I don't know, my hunch is Pierce simply walked back to the rear of his car, popped open the trunk and allowed the officers to take a gander at his NBA finals MVP trophy. Jokes asides, since this incident occurred in Las Vegas where Pierce owns a home. Perhaps, other officers from headquarters radioed back to the police cruiser(s) on the scene and informed them that Pierce is a "good guy" and "we know him." Still, any publicity like this is bad publicity for the Celtics. Maybe it would've been ideal if the police didn't know who Pierce is and assumed him to be a UNLV player driving home from a late party instead. I'm making light of this because it's a no-story. Unless Pierce was actually arrested and charged. Then the story could've been ignored and not even mentioned online or on local TV.

What is he doing driving a V12, 7 series? Everyone knows the V12 car to have is the S600. That would be my biggest concern, this is coming from an avid BMW fan.

This irks me for one big reason-other teams fans are going to jump ALL over this and use this against Pierce & Boston for the next 18 months.

Re: Pierce in the news for "driving erratically"
This isn't news. Who cares? Blowing below a .08 means he had a beer or glass of wine probably 2 hours before he drove. If he made that illegal lane change at 3:30PM, he doesn't get pulled over. Just dumb. You can't tell me Vegas cops don't have something more important to do?

Re: Pierce in the news for "driving erratically"
I agree that it's time for Paul to stop the partying and get back to business. maybe this will be a wake up call. But clubbing and staying out late has always been part of pierce's life and it's gotten him in trouble before. I also think that the mvp and his new found celebrity status has gone to his head. He's going to be a marked man next year when he plays Lebron , kobe etc. I don't want to overreact to what appears to be a mistake by the police but I don't like the vibe heading into next season. we've already lost posey and Pierce is running around acting like sebastian telfair-not good

Imagine if he had a weapon with him. It'd be Telfair all over again and his name plate would be in a dumpster somewhere.

Not a big deal. This happens to people all the time: you get pulled over for whatever random reason, they test you just because it's late, no harm, no foul. Pierce probably just really didn't want a DUI and became nervous and agitated. Who cares? This does not mean he's a "bad guy."

This is just another sad case of DWB: Driving While Black. Even the MVP is profiled...

You have the story wrong, he didn't fail the breathalyzer test. They pulled him over for driving erratically, tested him, he came in under .08 (the legal limit), so they let him go.

Re: Pierce in the news for "driving erratically"
First off, people are making this out to bea much bigger deal than it is. He wasn't driving drunk, all he did was commit a traffic violation, something that everyone does practically every day. This doesn't make him a bad seed or anythign liek that, and he shouldn't be seen worse by the public just because he's famous and committed a traffic violation, it jsut means he's human.
Second, in my profession I deal with police officers on a daily basis. Sometimes is good sometimes its not. From the reports, its seem this entire situation happened as a result of seeing a big black guy driving a really expencive car. Pierce probably had the bad luck of driving by bias cops who probably assumed he was a drug dealer or something. Handcuffing him was a total over reaction, and the whole thing in general is pretty stupid and shouldn't have occured. However, I bet that if he wasn't Paul Pierce and jsut an average minority, with no risk of this traffic stop hitting the media, he probably would have gotten charged with a lot more than a traffic violation sadly to say.

Re: Pierce in the news for "driving erratically"
Sounds like pretty much no harm, no foul. Though I'm sure Pierce assumed he was pulled over unfairly and had to collect himself to make it no bigger an incident.
It's almost comical now, however, how Celtics fan worriers have been fretting that he's been celebrating too long instead of being back in the gym or the trainer's or doctor's office instead--and the only snippets of news to reach said worriers include hints of Pierce's continued partying.
(Nobody seems too worried about KG or RA, but Pierce has had his weight and conditioning fluxuate some over the years.)

Man, I really hope that wasn't the case. So sad if it was.

Yeah, cops can be jerks sometimes. Several years ago I had a light tint on my car windows. I was stopped and the officer didn't tell me why and immediately slapped some contraption on my windows. He then said to me, your tint is not too dark, I told him I already knew that. He then proceeded to give me a ticket for speeding even though I wasn't and he obviously only stopped me to check my tint. I disputed the ticket and the cop didn't show up in court so I got the ticket dismissed.
