Oh the lies Danny Ainges weaves. <rondo>

I remember listening to Danny Ainge on WEEI about three or so weeks ago talking about the team, why they didn't resign Posey, and how Tony Allen is our best perimeter defender. That was all good. And during the interview, I distinctly remember Ainge saying:

"A day after the finals, Rondo was in the gym shooting 300 jumpers. He is working hard."

I was like, oh man, Rondo is going to be a beast next year with that kind of dedication! I was hype!!

And then, whan whan whan, low and behold, Rondo comes out with his yardbarker blog and gives us some insight to what he has been doing this summer:

"Last week, I was in Boston. I went to Boston after I left Houston and stayed for a week. I mainly went to work out. I hadn't picked up a ball since we won, and I figured I needed to jump start my training. I just went and lifted and shot by myself for the most part. I needed to see what shape my body was in. Btw..I'm in pretty good shape. "

Did Danny dream that Rondo was shooting 300 jumpers a day after the finals? Or was that just a flat out lie from the family man? How did he even come up with the number of 300? You the man, DA, but come on.

Weak story. GM's lie all the time for various reasons. I'm not concerned with this. Rondo knows what he needs to do and I'm sure he'll be working on his game this off season.

If Rondo is going to get a jumpshot he'll get one. This is all PR stuff anyways. Rondo could of forgot and might have been on the court the next day just as a way to close out the season, or Danny could of lied.

In the end it doesn't matter. Maybe taking one month off for Rondo's body was the best thing to do. He was supposviely hurt in the playoffs.

Did you ever think that this is what Rondo should have been doing? This is the problem with this years team compared to the team of the 80's. The team of the 80's would have been back to work on their games as this year's team seems to want to bask in the glow of their 1 championship. A guy like Rondo should have been in the gym shooting jumpers as that part of his game is really lacking and just shows signs of being complacent. He says in his blog that he wants to see where his body is at and not where his game is at. Larry Bird would be all over Rondo right now if he wasn't working on his game, but I guess this is the differense between the two eras, one knows what work is and one doesn't. This is why the team of the 80's was a dynasty and this team is still in limbo and guess who was part of that team, yea, Ainge the liar. Ainge knows what should be happening, but I guess he was wrong on Rondo wanting to get better, and yet we want to call Ainge a liar? Who should you be picking at?

Danny doesn't lie, it's against his religion, he probably meant that he played NBA live and took 300 jumpers as Rondo in practice mode.

I just caught him lying for absolutely no damn reason. Unless he is trying to enhance Rondo's trade value, I have no earthly idea why he just made up that fairy tale.

I can bet money rondo is shooting jumpers even in his sleep. next year will be a bigger test for rondo than it was last year. Nothing is harder than defending your crown. Just ask the spurs. I had no idea it was a GM's job to be a pathalogical liar. Who knew? I mean, does he lie about everything?

I understand a GM lying about a player's value, denying and confirming trade rumors, and those sort of things. Those lies are essential to doing his job. But lying for the sake of lying?

Not that I care either way that Danny is used car salesman. Doesn't make a difference to me. I just had no clue that he has to lie about things that don't need lying about. That's hilarious.

i related news, in a recent post on patrick o'bryant's blog, he states that he is very excited to meet clifford ray and he hopes to begin working with him this september.
