Why does the board stink now?

Post#1 » by CWitch » Thu Aug 14, 2008 1:07 pm

Is it the new format or just the lack of activity by the celtics that make it seem slow lately.

I usually check in once a day to see whats going on and to be honest there is nothing much to talk about.

Don't get me wrong I love that we won the Championship, but I miss all the talk about making trades. I miss having players to hate on. I guess I'm just a bored.

I hope the Cs sign somebody to take Posey's spot, but there doesn't seem to be much out there.

I think it's just that time of the year. Hopefully it'll pick up in the fall.

The new format does suck, I won't lie, just looks trashy. Activity should pick up next month though.

The summer is always slow, usually just a bunch of nut jobs arguing about **** that doesn't matter. Last summer was obviously different because of the trades. But to be honest is anyone really all that pumped to talk about the start of the season? I mean I am pumped to have the games back but I don't know that I am into to talking about Oct-Dec basketball. I now know why the Spurs board is so quiet, the **** doesn't matter till spring.

Not sure why people still complain about the new format. It is pretty much back to the same way it was. Also, yes, everyone is right when they say it is summer and we are champs. What is there really to talk about? My concern is the number of really good posters leaving due to the lack of good threads recently and just dumb topics. Guys like Darth, and now SuperDeluxe brought the level of the board up and they either don't post anymore or rarely. I would certainly agree that the level of conversations on this board has gone down dramatically. I hope it is just summer and we are all out enjoying life and it will pick up once the season starts, but I am wondering if that ship has sailed.

Yeah, whatever bothered me about the format before (pretty much just the color schemes) really are a non-issue for me at this point.

There's really not a lot of Celtics related activity to discuss at this point. Before we know it, training camp will be rolling around again though.

Agree about SuperDeluxe being an excellent poster.

The board is best for complainig and specualting. There really isn't much of either going on. We are the wolrd champs and are ready for next year to kick some ass.

And remember how much complaining and bitching there was by people who thought we'd never even get by the Hawks...uh I mean the Cavs, no the Pistons, the Lakers, huh?

YES. LOL. Or this one by members of this board, well the celtics are good but they need time to gel. They won't win this year but maybe next year.
Or

I would just be happy with making the ECF and losing to DET.

What was that crap about? LOL!!!

I think exceeding many peoples expectations has quieted down people. There isn't as much to worry about.

Going for back to back in 09!!!!

The C's have their likely 14 players for the roster, it's likely the last spot will be left open for a while, the possible signings for the last spot have been talked to death, there are no rumors about Celtics trades, and even the Boston papers can't find anything to write about concerning the Celtics. Not even summer league results to talk about, given Celtics not fielding a team. And Ainge says he is on vacation waiting for players to call (of course, that could be as accurate as the Rondo 300 jumpers comment).

It's not just this board which is quiet, it's all Celtics boards being quiet.

Not sure things will pick up before training camp, when we can talk about how the young guys are doing, and how in shape the veterans look.

Last year there was a lot more contention about which direction the team should head, trades to criticize, Doc arguements, etc. What's to argue about this year? The team core is in place, the Doc critics have had to go back to their den of evil, we won a championship, I'll take the boredom. There's only so many Trace Scal for X trades that even the most far fetched posters can come up with, and other than that it's just a half-hearted debate about Paul Pierce's off-season. Last year we were worried about even being legit, now we are worried about how a back-up's role will be filled. I guess it's the price of success, lol.

Let's change this. I don't get why those boards are dead all the time.

I agree, they should be cool.

Let's make a conscious effort to rock them out and make them as cool as this one!!

Well, the C's just won the title and they are pretty much bringing back the same team to everyone's agreement. So not much to debate about. I've been coming here pretty regularly to check in too, but haven't really had much to say...

Well, when there isn't much to complain about, the opportunities for debate also dwindles. As others have stated, things should pick up around training camp.

Well, we just won a championship so many of the usual complainers (and i dont mean that in a bad way) don't have anything to complain about, but there is a large subset of posters on this board whose main use of the board is to complain about how bad things are, except well they are not, the only real controversy of the offseason has been who to draft and whether or not to resign posey and both are long gone at the moment. THis is also the first year in some time we have not had a summer league team, and the summer league team gives us dozens of threads a week to priase and project or pan the youngsters, this is not a young team, the older guys are going to lose a step or they wont, right now theres not that much to argue about, seriously darius miles and stephon marbury are pretty much the only guys on that rader, also back in the day the pats thread and sox thread would be on this board attracting people, who would also durring the slow time contribute to the celtics topics, now that they are gone thats even less summer traffic.

The format change did not help, but I am not worried things will pick up agian soon

Return to Boston Celtics
