It was a good read, interesting to see how much the draft played into our championships.

The Celtics actually do it 7 times? Can't we in all honesty say that Pierce really is the best player taken in his draft? Carter, Dirk and Pierce are the 3 best and Pierce is the only guy with a ring. When the heat of the finals was on, Dirk wilted but Pierce elevated at both ends of the court. When Pierce labored without the kind of talent that Dirk has had around him he got no credit. Pierce didn't get to spend the first half of his career with a 2 time MVP PG like Nash.

*At this point in time Rajon Rondo is indisputably only one of the four or five best players in the 2006 draft (along with Aldridge, Roy and Gay), so it is premature to place him in the top three. Still I suspect Danny would not trade him for any of those other guys.

I'd say Brandon Roy is Best in Class.

Although the Celts need Rajon more than Rudy Gay or LaMarcus Aldridge,

either Gay or Aldridge would fetch a nice PG in return.

I'd agree that Rajon is clearly top 4. With the opportunity to move up to #2.

Don't see him ever passing Brandon Roy, though.

Roy, Aldridge, Gay, Brewer, Bargnani and Millsap.

Roy, Aldridge, and Gay are no brainers, but Bargnani and Millsap?? No friggin way! Brewer is close, but the fact taht Rajon is a PG which is a much more difficult spot to fill gives Rondo the edge.

So I'd say Rajon is #4 in the class. Still pretty damn good. But I'd be surprised if he surpassed the top 3.

And a fine article, elrod, as usual. This is the final answer to anyone who still thinks Ainge got "lucky".

In addition to some people mentioned, I'm a huge Lowry fan, as well as a Randy Foye fan.

You can definitely make a good argument Rondo is #4, but definitely not indisputable.

Excellent read, I'd definitely take Rondo over those overrated guys in Portland (one who will probably retire from injuries in 5 years) and a guy with the last name "Gay".

I think time will show that Rajon Rondo may very well end up being the best player from the 2006 Draft class in terms of career.

The main guy in the way of that happening would obviously be Brandon Roy but I know for a fact that he slipped in the draft because of medical red flags with his knees and he has already had a tough time staying healthy.

While I find this unlikely to ruin his career because his game is based more on basketball IQ and skill then physical talent it could still very well limit him to being less then what he could've been. I would still compare him to a Steve Smith who enjoyed a very good NBA career but do to knee injuries never reached his full potential in my opinion as they are very simular players.

Then you have LaMarcus Aldridge who is without a doubt going to have a very good career playing PF in this league. I don't think that we will ever be viewing him as a great player, I'm pretty high on him and think the Blazers are going to be pretty damn special with him as the 3rd or 4th guy with Oden, Roy and Bayless but I see him settling in as a 16/8 type who is capable of some big games when called on.

Rudy Gay has as good a chance of being the #1 player from this draft class as Rudy Gay does, he may in fact have a better chance of it in fact as he is simply the most talented player from that draft class hands down.

He truely has a chance to be a longterm All NBA player in this league, I think 25/7/4 is well within his grasp in fact I'd go as far as to say I expect it from him to reach that level in the next two years.
