NBA League Pass Broadband?
Hey all,
I've been reading this forum for a long time now but never really felt the urge to post until now. I've lived in New England my whole life but now I've just moved to the despicable state of New York to go to grad school and am wondering how am i going to manage to watch the Celtics. I know there are a lot of posters here who follow the celtics from far outside the new england market, does anyone NBA League Pass Broadband? Is it worth the money? Any other suggestions? thanks.

Re: NBA League Pass Broadband?
I have League Pass- definitely worth the money if your really into basketball.
I'm lucky enough to be able to watch the Celtics on CSN, but League Pass is great for watching all the other teams, and keeping up with the rest of the league.
But, yeah if I was to ever move out of New England, I'd definitely purchase League Pass, since it would be the only way to watch the Celts.
If your fine with watching 25 games a year (which is still a good amount), then that's how many games the Celtics will be on National TV for- those games tend to be the games against the other big time teams (the Lakers, Cavs, Spurs, etc), so if that's about all you have time for then I recommend that you don't waste money on League Pass.

If you're a diehard, it's worth it. I've been getting it every year.

Re: NBA League Pass Broadband?
I'm outside New England and my satellite provider doesn't carry League Pass, so I've had to scramble. There are a few off-shore streaming video providers around who can sometimes give you feeds for free. Sometimes you need to download software to see games, and you may end up with strange announcers (UK based, China based, etc.). Also, sometimes the video quality is poor, but when it costs nothing perhaps expectations should be low.
If you wanted to play around with it a bit, here is a reasonably good one to test some other sports with before basketball season:

This isn't a replacement for league pass, but if money is tight or options limited, it's better than reading box scores.

I don't think so. You don't need a dish, but you need to order the League Pass with your cable company to get broadband...

How much is it, just curious.
Since I'm moving back to the Boston area, I'll be able to watch all the games so I don't need it, just wondering how much it is, though...
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

It's $169.99. Not that cheap, but I figure it's about $30/mo, considering the season is about 5.5 months. Not too bad when you think about it that way.

The sharing account concept sounds fishy to me, I couldn't find anything on nba.com about doing that. Would you have a link?
I'd definitely be game for sharing an account and splitting the costs, assuming that's something they permit.

i am down to share an account if that is permitted. it would suck, though, if one one person could be logged in at a time. so only one person could watch the game live.

You can share it. I let a few of my friends use my login.

Re: NBA League Pass Broadband?
I think that's illegal. Under no circumstances should anyone contact me about this, or send me an email soliciting contributions to such a dubious endeavor. I am not in any way interested in contributing to this with several other people. if someone decides to organize it, i will definitely not send them my email address and figure out some way to pay them on paypal. i am absolutely not interested in watching celtics games online.
but if it is legal, i'm all over it!

soooo may be i remembered or interpreted it wrong
but on the front page they have a quote from bob ryan
"If you don't get NBA TV, you'd better buddy up quickly with someone who does" - Bob Ryan, Boston Globe
this seems to me like we can share to watch NBATV???

Re: NBA League Pass Broadband?
I partnered up with some friends to get NBA league pass a few years ago...
but that was more of an old school deal, I got a key to their apartment so I could go over and watch when they weren't home, when the amount they wanted me to chip in was too high, I had them throw in a leather jacket. On the I get ML Carr, ok you can have Bob McAdoo, but then I get the #1 pick tip.
But I think that's what Bob Ryan means by buddy up to somebody...
Man we watched a lot of Mark Blount that year.

Re: NBA League Pass Broadband?
who wants to make this happen? it sounds like a couple people are down for sharing an account. i don't even have a tv, let alone a cable account but if someone wants to get league pass and then get the broadband service, i am down to send them some cash through paypal to be able to use the pass word. tombattor, you interested? anyone else?

I'm also firm in to contribute. Unfortunately my satellite provider doesn't offer league pass, so I can't be the source.
