Who's your favorite Celtic?

This is a meaningless popularity contest.
I'm excluding all the new guys.
I'm also taking Gabe Pruitt out of the mix because he hasn't played meaningful minutes for us yet.

I love the way Paul Pierce plays the game of basketball.

I'm honestly going to try get my behind into gear and fly from Australia to come watch him and the Celtics play. To me, it's worth it. Hopefully by April ... actually maybe I should go see a playoff game instead.

You guys are so lucky!

I've had a hard time warming up to Pierce over the years. I respect the way he plays, but not the way he acts off the court. KG I love, Ray Allen I have a ton of respect for, but the guy I really like is Rondo. He replaced my previous favorite Jefferson. I seem to like watching the young kids develop, it's always a buzz to see someone improve their game.

The new guys I don't really know, but I can't actually say that I dislike any of the current Celtics players. Powe, Davis, Perk, even Scal with the way he verbally abused the press after the C's won it all was great. House, good guy. Tony Allen, got to root for a guy coming back from an unfortunate injury.

All in all, Ainge has brought together good players, but also guys I feel good cheering for.

Ive loved PP and believe hes the captain of the team, I love KG and Ray Ray but my favorite Celtic is Leon Powe. First off its hard not to cheer for the guy for what hes been through. On top of that this guy seems to respect the fans (unlike PP at times, I still love PP though :D ) But the real reason I love Leon is because every min of PT he gets he gives 110%, it sucked seeing him glued to the bench during the first half of the season but it was awsome chanting LEON POWE and seeing him dominate during game 2 of the NBA Finals!!!

I put 'Be On Leon' for the same reasons as Tricky Ricky, plus I miss having a binky.

I usually have some rook or newbie as a personal fave to keep a watch on, whether they play or not. This year maybe Walker for the exciting hops, ala GGreen or KBrown (hope he's a better player, though), and I'm totally ready to embrace PO'B if he shows any signs of life whatsoever.

I've got a man-crush for Perk, I just love the attitude he brings to the floor and the way he approaches basketball and being a teammate. Powe would be a close second. I've got a feeling Giddens may be ranked up there for me by the end of the year also, no one talks about him but he's an incredible athlete and knows how to play, we'll see if 4 years of college ball lets him contribute this season.

Rondo is the TRUTH! The kid is going to skate circles around the competition...literally.

lol. Listen to this interview, and try and tell me that you don't feel some love for Scal.

Just a shame he doesn't play as good as he interviews.

1. Paul Pierce, I am from Kansas, and Paul played at KU while I still lived there, he is probably the biggest reason I became a celtics fan in the first place.

2. Rajon Rondo, great D, a fighter super quick a better shooter then you think

3. Big Baby, hes smooth hes got the moves and like me he likes to eat.

bottom 3

15. Brain Scalabrine, just a waste of space, really, i could do what he does if i was his height, give me 3 million a year.
14. Tony Allen, I can not stand all the stupid plays he makes, not to mention the poor off the court deciisons, and whenever he is supposed to break out he gets hurt.
13. Jr. Giddons, the reverse pierce, got booted from KU for acting like a complete idiot, surprised we took him in the first, he would have been available much later, still I think he could be able to help the team.

My favorite current Celtic is Paul Pierce. He went through some really fustrating times in this team's history. However, my favorite Celtic of all-time is Danny Ainge. Hence, celtics792244. His old jersey numbers in the league. He scraficed so much of his game for the benefit of the team here, (check out his stats on a bad Sacramento team) and fortunately people here in Boston DO recognize this. Unfortunately, those around the country do not. If he were in the league today or even 10 years ago, he would be a top 20 player. For God's sake, Steve Kerr?(10 years ago), Michael Redd?(today)...good shooters, yes, but hardly good all-around players. I am happy as hell for him and Doc.

Not to go completely off topic, but doesn't Wyk look like the guy who played Doc Oct in Spider-Man 2?!

lol JR hasn't even played one minute and he's already your least favorite C??? damn, tough crowd!!

i think you'll be surprised by this kid. everyone makes mistakes when they're young. by all accounts he's solid all around now. and the kid is a playa. he's more like pierce than you think.

Easily Paul Pierce for me. KG was my favorite non-Celtic for years, but PP is still the man. Ray Allen is really fun to watch when he has it going, though. He's like watching Jazz music on the floor, lol.

Wow...just...WOW...Pierce being the most popular is kind of obvious, but I'm very surprised that KG only gets TWO votes. I guess he's on everyone's Top 3 (or 5?) but not the clear favorite on many people's list. That surprises me.

1. Paul Pierce - boy, how lucky were the Celts to be able to even draft this guy? I still remember jumping up and down like I had just won a million dollars when David Stern said the words "Dirk Nowitzki" during that 1998 NBA Draft (I had no clue who Nowitzki was at the time, but I definitely knew that Paul Pierce was going to be a great scorer).

2. KG - the man does not take a play off. I won't lie - I used to think that his intensity was an overrated aspect of his game, hyped up by the media to try and cover the fact that he disappeared during the 4th quarter. Boy, was I wrong. He's still not a closer, but that's what Paul is there for.

3. Perkins - he's got about 10% of KG's athleticism and skill, but he still matches KG's intensity. This guy moved up a few notches 2 years ago during that game against KG and the Wolves. He got chippy with KG and didn't back down from him at any time. The best part about that game - when the Cs were trailing at the end of the first half, which resulted in Perk tearing a strip off Pierce, telling him to step his game up.

4. Rondo - he's going to be scary when he realizes that he can still affect a game, even without a jumpshot. And he's going to be downright terrifying if he does improve to become an average shooter. He's like a pre-injury Dee Brown, but with a high basketball IQ.

5. Leon Powe - I love role players, especially ones who do one thing really well. For Leon, that's grabbing boards, especially offensive boards. Reminds me of Ed Pinckney.

6. Ray Allen - sweet jumper, plus I like checkin for his kicks every game. Jordan Brand needs to start sending this guy better kicks this season though, as they stuck him with horrible Team Jordans for most of last year.
