After we won were you more excited or relieved?

Post#1 » by Tricky Ricky » Wed Sep 3, 2008 1:18 pm

Ok after game 6 against LA and we won the NBA Championship were you more excited or relieved? I was more excited than ever after the game 7 ATL and Cle wins, I was going crazy after the game 3 5 and 6 wins against Det, I was freaking out and sooo excited after the first three wins against LA, however since winning game 6 I have just felt relieved, probably due to the fact that this was the first Championship I ever saw the C's win. Whenever I see highlights I start to get a little excited again and expect it to come out once the season starts and the banner is raised (Which I just got tix for!) Anyway after we won game 6 were you more excited or relieved?

More excited than anything. To win and see it live was jsut awesome. Now I'm excited to see if we can do it again. If we can't it will suck. But to do it once was even great!!!!

To be honest, I felt a little bit of both.

I felt excited to see my favorite team win the championship. Who wouldn't be excited about that? After all the hard times the team went through, it was great to see the franchise back where it belonged. And personally, it was exciting for me because I had friends, family, relatives, co-workers, etc coming up to me and congratulating me. That was great, because in the years before, these very same people were razzing me over the hard times. It was redemption, for having stuck by what sometimes was an awful team, to finally come out on top.

I also felt relieved, because the Celtics had given up Al Jefferson, as well as the 5th pick. Everyone kept talking about how the Celtics had a 2-3 year window. To actually get the job done the first year was remarkable. Giving up my favorite post player since Kevin McHale was not an easy thing for me to stomach, especially when you consider that he's not even in his prime and is putting up 20-10. Imagine had the Celts not won a title, and we had to watch Big Al put up 25-12 for the T-wolves, deep in the playoffs? That would have absolutely killed me. But now, whenever I watch Al Jefferson put up those numbers, I can cheer for him and not have that sick feeling in my stomach thinking "What if we had kept him?".

I could certainly see APG being relieved, because they have a limited time left in their playing careers and their legacy would have been tainted without a championship. But as a fan, I (knock wood) have a long time left for more championships.

No question at all I was excited. I care little for baseball and football, my sports passions are hockey (Bruins) and BB (Celtics of course), so to say that it's been a while since being involved in a championship I cared about is an understatement.

Oh I must choose one. Of course, I am rather over-excited after being world champs and getting younger this offseason. I just can't believe Bill Walker is a second rounder. I think he is more like a confident Gerald Green. I am excited about Giddens, POB and Miles. You know Ainge..

I think I was excited during the playoffs and the ceremony. Afterwards I felt more relieved than excited, because I was so happy that everything was worthwile for PP, KG, Ray, Danny, Doc, Wyc (and PJ to a lesser extent).

Ya that was one of the best parts for me, so many people congratulated me I thought I was part of the team lol, and like you said these same people who made fun of me all these years were congratulating me. Im not saying I wasnt excited at all, I was just a lot more relieved that I finally saw one, and now I can never say what if I never see a championship, ANYTHINGS POSSIBLE!!!!!!

Happy more than anything else. You could say content - which I guess has a similar meaning to relieved - with a better connotation. Almost every season in the past seemed to end in such a way to leave you at least a little upset, this year nobody had any qualms or problems with the team. I can understand why you wouldn't be excited because there's a little bit of the 'this is it?' factor, where the anticipation and excitement of fighting for a championship, actually turned out to be more exciting than the championship itself. It is really great to look back on the success of the season, though,I watched some finals and season highlights on youtube yesterday, and they still brought a huge smile to my face.

Well the main thing and the main reason I watch is for a championship, to watch players like PPierce on a nightly basis before he won a ring just upset me. To think of all time greats such as Malone and Barkley upsets me when I realize they never won a championship, to me a championship is everything and without one in my eyes your whole career is tarnished. So to now know PP is a champ just relieves me, to now know my favorite team has finally won a championship doesnt make all those years of watching worthless anymore and make pretty much every moment of watching basketball worth it for me.

I wont lie though there was that "this is it" feeling they won but whenever I watch highlights or look at my NBA champions shirt I get a huge smile on my face and that this is it feeling turns to THIS IS IT!

Just think back to all the years when you prayed they would jsut be 500. Now we are praying they can win back to back titles. How insane is that. We are 1 year removed from losing Greg Oden or Kevein Durnat.

That is why I never understood the average red sox fan as long I have lived. they won and are still in hysterics every year about this team. That's what is great about celtics fans. They get it. Take the good with the bad. That is what celts fans do best.

Relieved, definitely. When they won, I took a huge sigh of relief, it was so beautiful.

Relieved....but NOW, excited about the future...This team was built to win in 2008-2009....Last year was gravy as far as I'm concerned....Knowing that this Ownership and Danny Ainge are trying to set us up for the next 10 years by the way they are drafting is exciting to me.....Gone are the Gaston/Pitino/Wallace years...All Hail Danny Ainge--!!

Time to give him a lifetime contract.

We're going to see them in the championship hunt for the next 4 years if they stay healthy, and now they aren't stuck with the albatross contracts. No Vin Baker to move, no Walker to move, no LaFrentz, no Blount, no nothing, lol. We're going to see him able to work with this team on a relatively clean financial slate in the future. We've seen so many times "we should trade this guy for cap space", and I've always asked the next step, what do we do WITH that cap space. We may get to see him working with it down the road, but in the meantime, all of us will enjoy seeing the new big 3 do their thing.

I was relieved when they beat atlanta in 7, and cleveland in 7.

I was exicted when they bounced Detroit in 6 and embarassed the Lakers in 6.

Relief would imply that I was stressed. I was only stressed when we were a loss away from an early vacation. How could I be stressed when we were demolishing the Lakers in game 6? ;)

Funny, I feel just the opposite. I was relieved after ATL and CLE... Game 7's against inferior teams -- please get it done or this is just going to be an embarrassment... DET and LAL however was pure joy.
