Very encouraging considering they drafted him and he's under contract. Imagine if they went through all that trouble of drafting and signing him and talking about him to the press and then they realized they didn't like him and they said, "****, man, we really don't like this guy that much."

Hey look on the bright side, the green are really high on walker, that's a much better off season headline the "Walker really high on the Green", so yes of course its not really news, but no news is good news as they say, the papers have to print something.

Bill Walker would be a lottery pick if it wasn't for his injury. Now if he's been impressive enough for the Celtics not to send him to Europe then it's definitely good news.

What would be better is if he lives up to the lottery pick potential that people had him as, and if D. Miles works out and fulfils his potential, we could have something nice in: Rondo, Walker, Miles.

Tony Allen would be there too, and Powe, Davis and Perkins could be decent role players. Obviously the team lacks a solid inside player, but there's room for optimism after The Big Three.

I watched the draft until the bitter end, thinking that there was some way the Celtics would end up with Walker. Maybe it was meant to be. Anyway, if he is healthy and plays to his potential I'm sure we'll be hearing from Wiz fans for years over this.

Can't wait to see him in action.

The scouts were just put off by the 2 major knee surgeries and the one scope. They all knew he had talent. Washington he would have been behind steveson and butler. I think they were worried about spending the money especially after signing Antoin and Gil. They still have to sign Butler right? OR did they already sign butler.

I am stoked, if healthy this kid has serious star potential.

I'm glad we like him so much and he's doing well. I remember watching the draft and when Giddens' name was called instead of Walkers I almost threw the remote through the TV. But when we traded for him and hour later, I was very happy.

I can't believe he fell that far in the draft, he's gonna be the Powe/Gomes/Milsap of the '08 draft

I'm stoked by the marketing value, the fan value. He's going to be great to watch.

He's like Powe or Baby or Gomes for that matter. If the guy works he can become an NBA starter. It just so much fun to watch the good guys that the pundits have writen off make it.

And if he doesn't make it, we're still champions and the guy is going to have a great life.

He has the athletic ability and base tool set to be a near all star, however he is ALOT more likley then most not to reach that potential due to injury, with that said however, that potential is there, and he has a TON of upside.

Even with his injuries its sort of surprising that he dropped. He reminds me a lot of Bonzai Wells. He just so naturally big and strong for his size. Bonsai couldn't do anything besides bully people down low early in his carer and was still a big part of those good, dysfunctional portland teams.

Thank god, I thought this was going to be another Antoine thread. Yes, of course they're going to say they're high on him. The were high on Jiri, Bremmer, G. Green and many others. Hopefully this one turns out better.

The best thing about Walker is that he has spent so much time in OJ's shadow. This is a guy who isn't going to be a bitch about the spotlight - which lets face it with PGA is good, 'cause there ain't none.

He can play and was right there with Mayo as a talent until he blew a knee. If, and that is a huge TA sized IF he can keep it together physically... yeah.

Ainge seems happy to gamble on multiple 'certainty except for the surgery' and expect one to pay off.

When you just won the world championship you can gamble on players. I hope it works out for this kid.

I don't think it is as much of a gamble as we the word implies. It is more like we're the house in Las Vegas. The odds are stacked in our favor.

1. DA works extremely hard evaluating draftable talent. He knows who is out there and what they can do first hand and with multiple other high quality opinions.

2. DA and the Celtics have developed a first class system to develope young players. We take a long term approach to their careers and also stongly tend to draft players that share that long term - work hard vision. Perkins is a perfect example.

3. Finally, DA manages our 7 to 15 spots like a talent investment portfolio. We don't bet the farm on 1 or 2 players. Right now we have 7 or so projects under developement. There is pressure, but it is pretty close to ideal pressure.

Walker is a gamble, but really we've gambled very little. The payoff could be nothing, probably a role player to starter if healthy. This is really not a gamble at all. It's like here's two hats, one has a hundred dollars under it. Pick one. If we pick the wrong one, we've lost nothing.

I love Bill Walker and while he may have the talent to eventually be a lottery pick he wasn't a lottery pick in this draft even if healthy. I really like him as a player and he has some skills you can't teach but he is pretty raw basketball wise. I wanted to draft him and I am glad we have him but I don't think this guy is ready for a NBA offense or defensive rotations but year from now the C's may really have something.

I dislike the continued use of the work gamble with Walker. There is no gamble here. We bought a second round pick and got a guy with a ton of talent and NBA size. This continues DA's great line of second round successes - Hunter, Reed, Gomes, Powe, Davis, Walker. If you get a guy in the second round who sticks in the league, you've picked well.

Walker is a little raw from missing so much college ball with injuries but he's built like a NBA vet and has a great attitude. He'll be a load for many small forwards and should have been a late first rounder. Probably play some D-league because playing time will be scarce but love the pick. Hoping for a Gerald Wallace type player.
