OK CELTIC FANS, YA'LL READY TO DO THIS???!!!!
Laker fan here starting off by giving you your props on being the Champs last year, you deserved it. Injured not injured or whatever you guys took the title & that's it. This is a new year hopefully everyone on both sides stays healthy. If so I really cant see anyone stopping you guys out of the East & we are favored to win the West. My motto is if you want to be the best, you have to beat the best. And right now you guys are the best. As much as i'm sure we hate each others guts i'm sure there is a mutual repsect there from both sides & I personally hate being on the short end of the stick of this 9-2 series lead you guys have over us. So in short we are out to kick @$$ & take names this year Celts, lets get there together & rekindle 1 of sports best rivalries ever but this time................................IT'S LAKERS BABYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!

I'm glad ur so confident but destroy? Come on. You got by a wounded Laker team 4-2 & it took a trememdous comeback in game 4 in fact biggest comeback in Finals history to even attain that. So if we're healthy we'll see who gets destroyedTheTimeDoctor wrote:well, we will be there and you might. The Bynum card... noice. Sometimes I wish his leg would just fall off so we don't have to hear the, "But we would have won if Bynum played!!1111!!!!!!" He gets jocked so hard it's insane.

The Celtics played that series with three injured starters.
It was their easiest series of the playoffs.

The series wasn't as close as 4-2 would indicate. Pierce almost ended the series single handedly in game 5. You do realize you got rocked in a series clinching game by 39 points, IN THE FINALS!, right? and as for Bynum he sucked vs. the Celtics last season no reason to think that'd stop in the finals.
With all due respect your Laker's got dismantled in the finals. Please don't use the wounded excuse it's just weak, and not a good look. You went through the entire play-offs with that roster and Kobe's pinky injury was suspect (i think he was 100%). Your Lakers are a great team, but they were "destroyed" in last years finals. If we meet again and both teams are fully healthy it'll probably be a good series, but I still see the Celts winning.
Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...

With Bynum, Celtics still take that series 4-2. What, was he going to be yet another guy standing around watching Leon Powe go to the hoop?
Maybe he could have cradled Sasha in his arms and wiped away the tears. That's about it.

Maybe other Celtics fans won't agree, but I think the Lakers will win 70 and defeat Boston for the Championship in 7. Hopefully at least one new team could make the Finals after this season, but I'd love to see a rematch. Bynum may be overrated by some people, but should be a multi-year all star by the time his career is over. I'll be pulling for Boston obviously, but I wish the Lakers luck.

Re: OK CELTIC FANS, YA'LL READY TO DO THIS???!!!!
Bynum, Bynum, Bynum! What has he done?
Career playoff stats: 3.8 rb, .3 blk, 3.3 pts.
wow...
Lakers fans must feel so entitled, that every legit 7'er they get is an automatic HOF'er.
Mikan, Wilt, Jabbar, Shaq, and now Andy.
Well, guess what? I'm confident that Bynum is going to have fine NBA career, but to consider that he would have been the difference maker in that series is ludicrous, specious, and ridiculous.
It's like saying "If Tony Allen was healthy, he would have shut down Kobe." TA is a fine player, but like Bynum, he still hasn't shown that he can come through biggest when it counts the most. So let's not coronate a player until they've done something to earn it. Bynum looks very good to me, but also still a bit raw and hasn't proved himself under the pressure of the playoffs yet.

I'll give the Lakers props. They were a very good offensive team, and with Bynum will likely be even better.
BUT...defense wins championships.
This time, I especially liked the hilarious interviews that Kobe and Jackson had to give when asked what the F#@* just happened!?!
I hope we see the Lakers in the finals again this year, cause I love beating you guys. It's never a dull moment.

Re: OK CELTIC FANS, YA'LL READY TO DO THIS???!!!!
Let's look ahead to this matchup.
Healthy Bynum has three major positive effects on this matchup for the Lakers:
1. It allows Gasol to play his natural defensive position at PF. The positive side of this is it forces the Celtics to decide whether to put KG on Gasol or Perkins. Perkins is a much, much better one-on-one post defender. If Garnett has to guard Gasol while Perkins checks Bynum this undoubtedly helps the Lakers offense. Garnett guarding Gasol = Celtics double team and Gasol can pass the ball.
2. It gets the choker Lamar Odom out of the starting lineup. Odom was a non-factor for much of the series against the Celtics IMO, he was the guy the Celtics defense tried to cheat off of.
3. The Lakers are extremely long at the 4-5 with these two guys. There are some questions about their ability to space the floor (Gasol has limited range and is better suited playing on the block) but they should be a very good rebounding team and if they can't up their defense considerably than that is going to kill them in this matchup vs. the Celtics.
On the negative or potential negative side for the Lakers:
1. It is unclear how Odom fits in to this team. As a 3 the Lakers don't have enough shooting at the four he is a solid change of pace guy but matched up against KG it's not favorable.
2. Gasol cannot guard KG on the perimeter. Neither can Bynum.
3. Bynum has struggled with Perkins and it might just be that Perkins has the type of game to neutralize Bynum.
As to the rest of the teams: the Lakers don't have any answers for the Ray-Paul combo who destroyed the Lakers in the finals and the gap between Rondo and Fisher-Farmar will continue to widen in Rondo's favor. Finally, the series will ultimately be decided on the defensive end. Will the Lakers improve their ability to play tough defense? Will the Celtics match or exceed their defensive performance of last season? It seems likely that the Celtics are still a tough matchup for the Lakers but the Lakers should be better prepared to take them on this season assuming a healthy roster on both sides.

Re: OK CELTIC FANS, YA'LL READY TO DO THIS???!!!!
Actually I would of liked Bymun to play. Would of made it a lot easier on our defense instead of having Gasol and Odom.
Silly Laker fans saying Odom can play the SF. Lolz, with Radman we just stay close if he's near the line, with Odom.. lets take our chances with his 3 point shooting skills. Either way down the court it's a clear lane to the basket for Pierce.
But Perkins guarding someone who relies on brute strength like Perk would make things a lot easier then Gasol who actually has just as big of wingspan as Perk and talent to boot.
With Bynum, Perkins gets an easier job for him defensively. KG instead of having a potentially mobile PF to guard gets a Soft Gasol to scream and push around.. it will be funny to look at Pauls face after 4 games and see tears in his eyes. And out at SF position you either have to put someone who can't score well but maybe defend Pierce in Ariza, somneone who can only shoot 3s but can't defend Pierce in Radman, or someone who can do a little bit of scoring or shooting inconsitently but can't defend Pierce in Odom.
Lets not even get into how our zone style becomes so much easier when they're are lame duck shooters on the court... you think Kobe was doubled last year? Lets see what happens when his option is to throw a risky pass to Odom or Bynum for a mid range shot or shoot over 3 players... it will probuly be the same thing as last year where the diffrence was it was Sasha or Radman at the line stretching our defense and opening holes in our rotational zone.

Re: OK CELTIC FANS, YA'LL READY TO DO THIS???!!!!
I think Bynum would have significantly helped the Lakers because he gives them the one thing they desperately lacked: Interior D. And while Odom is no prize, Radman was probably the worst starting player we faced in the entire playoffs. Moving him to the bench where he belongs also helps the Lakers. Odom actually did OK defending Pierce.
We need improvement from Rondo and some help off the bench if we want to be sure of taking out the Lakers again. Of course, with the Hornets improving and if the Spurs are healthy, the Lakers might not even make it back.

Well put but why do guys keep going to the Bynum card? He must really strike fear into your hearts. I said we are healthy. That includes Bynum, Ariza, & Kobe. I agree the series wasn'r as close as 4-2 might indicate but lets not start talking about almost. We almost took game 1, We almost won game 4, that type of talk is neither here nor there fact is Pierce didnt single handedly win game 5 & we didnt win games 1 or 4 thats it. Last year was last year lets do this again I want both teams healthy when that cane your leprechan leans on is stripped out from under him!Man_Up wrote:anklebreaker702 wrote:I'm glad ur so confident but destroy? I'd love to see a rematch, so I do wish them luck. I can't stand Kobe, Phil Jackson, and Jabaar, but respect most of their other greats in their history. I don't like the way they have built their team throughout most of their history, but I do respect them for what they done for the sport. I have mixed emotions about them, but regardless I'm still a big Celtics fan.
