From what's been reported, this is REALLY a horrible decision on the part of Comcast. Unless there's more too it, it sounds like they're forcing Cousy out for no good reason. Cousy IS the Celtics, Comcast is not. They're a corporation that holds the broadcast rights, and in doing so they have responsibility whether it's in their contract or not to respect Celtics history. Bob Cousy is a critical part of that history.

As far as I'm concerned, as long as Cousy wants to broadcast then that's what should happen. Not to mention he's really good at it.

I can only say "F-ing douches don't know what they are doing!" The Celtics are a family. I don't know how these things are handled, but somebody needs to handle it from within the organization and get Cousy reinstated.

just because a guy is a great celtic doesn't mean he is cut out to be a semi-regular announcer for the rest of his life...he's getting old, and last season i couldn't understand a good chunk of what he was saying because he's starting to slow down and slur quite a bit.

WITH THAT SAID, i am moreso bummed about tommy only doing color for home games and not doing any road games. but i am EXTREMELY ticked that they chose 'experienced' NJ nets benchwarmer donny marshall to do color commentary on ALL road games! why!? how!? the guy is as colorless as a zebra, how do they expect us to enjoy his color commentary??? and i get so sick of him always talking about what must be going through ray allen's head, because he played with him in college. or what KG must be thinking, because he OBVIOUSLY knows how great players think in the NBA because he was one...oh wait, that's right, YOU WERE A BENCHWARMER!!

if we have to have a bench warmer be a celtics announcer, at LEAST let it be someone that had a place somewhere in celtics history, maybe someone from one of the 80's title teams or something. NOT a NJ Net! UGH...

so, while i personally think it may have been cooz's time, i agree with the basic sentiment of go to hell comcast lol.

Comcast is from Philly and they own the 76ers of course they are going to screw the Celtics.

Seriously, I read it on the wiretap and thought it was pretty lame for them not to keep him on in a limited capacity. Former legends like Cousy are the reason the NBA has become the cash cow for so many of these large corporations like Comcast.

Cousy has been pretty bad for the 20 years I have been watching the Celts. Often it was hard to distinguish over many of those year, what was worse. Cousy stumbling through 2.5 hours of basketball or the Celts play.

This is obviously going to be Scal's new job when he gets cut this year.

These Corporate A-Holes would fire Bill Russell and Red cause they didn't sound "perfect"...This is another example of corporate America making the WRONG decision....Bob Cousy is a freaking Legend-and I've always enjoyed his honesty and viewpoint on the Celtic broadcasts.

This was a bad move by comcast.

If you want to cut down his games to 3 or 5 then alright. But to say you can't be apart of us, is just ridiculous.

The couz has bled green his whole life. He's a damn institution and not just a Celtic legend, but an NBA legend. I suggest eveyone express their disgust:

Couz has been difficult to listen to for way too many years. The newer, younger fans deserve a commentator who isn't stuck in the 1960's. He complains too much, doesn't know players names, and adds nothing to the broadcast. He's just provides comments equivalent to the ordinary fan. However, I'd take him over the next bimbo they replace him with.

Comcast owes him nothing. If the Celts want to extend him something that's different. But its not like he's Pesky.

Im more upset at Comcast/Time Warner because I have to watch games on regular tv. They blackout the HDTV broadcast. Watching the Celtics on regular tv after you are used to watching sports on HDTV is horrendous.

What do the younger fans deserve? Donny Freakin' Marshall? Greg Dickerson? Good god.

If you didn't like couz's dry sense of humor and funny accent fine. Personally I liked his objectivity for a few games a year. I don't blaim Mike and Tommy for their constant optimism and glass half full shtick through the dark years. No one wants hear about how their team sucks for 82 games a year, but for just a few I liked hearing what someone really thought. Somone that knew basketball, even if he didn't know all the current players. But for Comcast to just dump a Celtics legend that's been doing this for decades over the phone shows very little respect for the organization's history and prestige and most importantly, respect for one of the all-time greats.

They've got plenty of crap for the youth with their two second attention span. A little class and connection with the history of the team seems like a small request with all the garbage fans have to put up with in the pre, half-time, post game shows, and horrid sideline reporting.

My problem with this is how they went about it. A low level employee called him? How about some freaking respect! I certainly don't mind Cousy's analysis, but it is not that big of a deal for me. A bigger deal is having that GQ wannabe Marshall doing road games. He is ok in the studio, but I can't stand him for games.

Great player....not much fun as an announcer, except for comic relief. Now Pollard, on the other hand, that'd be a good announcer, IMO.

The two guys in the Celtic organization who are proven top quality announcers are Doc Rivers and Danny Ainge.

But they're busy with other things.

And it is stated today in the paper that if he doesn't play anymore, he wants to start his new career in broadcasting. I think he would be terrific.

I loved the contrast between Tommy and Couz. They really played well off each other. But alas.

i just hope we dont have to deal with marshal for the next 20 years, seriously, i cant stand his voice. if we were gonna take a non celtics player we should of taken reggie miller, i enjoy him.

I don't know if all the Cous hate is deserved... Maybe it's all just Cousy fanboy talk, but I love how he breaks down PG play. He loves guys like Paul and AI. Which made me love them too.
