In What World is Billups Better Than Paul Pierce?

Are you frickin' kidding me? In what planetary system is Billups and Boozer considered better than Paul Pierce?

Apparently someone forgot to tell Tom Ziller that PP was the MVP of the 2008 World Champions. Sure he picked KG as #4... but still...

And why are all these so-called "experts" always panning the Celtics?

"Experts" suck at making these ratings, they just do the most popular picks and don't really put any thought into their columns. If you asked me to make a list, #1 a+b would be KG and Duncan.

I wouldn't put much stock into these rankings anyways. Its like the people that give the ratings to the players in NBA 2k9. Not everyone is happy with them, so you change them around to your liking and go on from there. (Seriously, in 2k9, Stuckey has like 69 potential and 77 overall rating...that kid was a stud in the playoffs)

This is no different from when Anthony is ranked higher than Pierce for league's best small forwards more times than not. Carmelo isn't a better player then Pierce in my opinion. For me, it's LeBron and Pierce and then everyone else at small forward.

Anthony's a notch below with players like Butler, Josh Howard and Kirilenko.

I'm not sure how Ziller does his rankings, is it statistically based? Any other ranking system to me is really useless. You can't effectively rank 50 players by feel alone, you need a analytic system. When I read the title I thought he had ranked Chris Paul behind Billups, but now I see that it was Pierce. One could effectively argue that a pg is more important to a team's success than a SF, so I'm not that surprised by Pierce being behind Billups.(Although I do disagree with it.)

Good heavens...he sure gives Bynum a lot of credit for a 10/10 guy who routinely gets owned by Perk...

Sure Bynum has potential, but who knows if he'll ever be more than 'pretty good'?

A lot of love for Big Al though...

Well...I agree that Bynum is already better than "pretty good." Or at least very close. He's a stud in development.

I think that Billups has been perenially underrated. The Pistons have done their thing consistently in recent years without a superstar, and their biggest strength has arguably been their offense. Is Rip Hamilton really that great? Anyways, he's getting older. I would take PP over Chauncey next season.

Now, I don't think PP should be behind Boozer or Amare.

It looks like Tom Ziller has Al Jefferson @ #18 behind PP @ #17.

Pierce is a top 7 player in the league.

Billups is not on Pierce's level. Chris Paul the 2nd best player in the league? lol !

CP3 is a top 3 player in the L easy. I don' think KB 24 is though. Look at the finals and how HE underperformed. God is he the most overhyped thing ever?

Good. Let PP give the answer on the court.

Otherwise it's just an individual listing. I generelly do care more for the respect that our team gets.

Read Slam's rankings, they are very good. It would probably be hard to say that so far they are way off on any guy.

BTW: They have done 12-50 and thus far haven't ranked Pierce...

KG, Pierce, etc could be ranked 1, 2, 17, 18, 200, 300, etc. I don't think they really care at this point. So long as the Celtics are the #1 team, that's all that really matters.

I agree. Although I do feel it is debateable whether Kobe is the most talented player in the league (I think he probably is top 3 talent-wise).

This is one of the worst lists I have ever seen of this sort. First, Manu Boozer and Billups cannot be above PP. People still seem to think Chauncey is an MVP caliber player based solely on the 2004 Finals. I like Billups a lot, but lets be realistic, he is not a franchise player. And he certainly is not a better point guard than Deron Williams.

Which brings me to my next point. Big Al over Deron Williams. I'm glad Big Al is getting love, but he did what he did last year playing no defense, not passing, and playing on an awful team. And Kevin Martin and Andrew Bynum over Tony Parker, Baron Davis, and Shawn Marion. Maybe in three years, but certainly not right now. Michael Redd behind Shane Battier and Danny Granger? This is truly awful.

This is a five player league right now, that much he got: LBJ, CP3, Kobe, KG, and Duncan

PP might be in the top 10 of that list...

My point is this, these 3 guys have as much talent as the felon but, they make their teams better!!! i don't think kb24 has done that since shaq left.

Pierce is better than Billups and Boozer- though there are certain situations where I'd take those players over him depending on the makeup of the team.

As for the list- wouldn't rank Paul above Kobe- he's just not a better player. I agree with Lebron being #1, but Amare's too high and Dwight's too low.

Pierce should be in the Top 15- he's a fringe Top 10 player, and I expect him to be coming up.

Kobe seems to be lacking in the team building department... his teammates don't seem very comfortable around him...

I would say in the finals they were terrified of KB 24. Why is he considered different than a Gilbert arenas. Granted KB24 can play way better D but is he really better than Gil?
