Pruitt is starting. Rondo is out as a precaution.

Pruitt with the starters should be interesting.

Pruitt looks good so far. You could tell he was pretty nervous the first few minutes. But He looks like he has settled in now.

I know it is only one game... in fact only one quarter but what do ya know? It seems we have been looking for a backup point guard and all this time he was stuck at the end of the bench...

Danny has repeatedly implied that that was the case to some degree even last year, except Doc had had to focus so much on meshing the starters that he hadn't been able to test Pruitt to his liking in the preseason.

ADHD Tony Allen is playing today. He failed to rotate properly on defensive and, thereby, gave the foul on Williams. On the inbounds, he doesn't come back for the ball and Leon is forced to burn a time out. Two big miscues in less than 5 seconds of playing time. Just brain dead play, imo. Not to mention he has been virtually invisible on both ends of the floor since checking into the game.

(As I type this he finally does something and gets to the line.)

Baby playing well. Same with Pruitt.

I think we have a pretty firm grip on the rotation

Starting Lineup:
PG: Rondo
SG: R. Allen
SF: Pierce
PF: Garnett
C: Perkins

Bench:
8: Leon Powe ( Should see 20-25 minutes of the bench. Paired with KG or Perkins. )
6: Tony Allen ( Should see 20-25 minutes a game off the bench.
7: Eddie House ( Should see 15-20 minutes of the bench. Most of the time at PG and occasionally SG)
9: Big Baby ( Should see 10-15 minutes a game off the bench. Could lose PT to POB )
10: Bill Walker ( Should see 10-15 minutes a game off the bench.
11: Patrick Obryant ( Could take Babys or Powes minutes on any given night due to matchups )
12: Pruitt ( Could take some of Eddie Houses minutes )

Inactive:
Sam Cassell ( Could take Pruitt's active spot )
Giddens ( D League )
Scalabrine ( One more year left on his contract )

Pruitt did very well. Had I believe 11pts, 11 rebounds 6 asst. Got player of the game honors as well. He looked pretty smooth out there with the starters, that is for sure.

Nice win for the C's. Perk had a monster game but the MVP of the night was Gabe Pruitt. 11 points, 12 rebouts, 7 or 6 dimes :o killlerrrrrrrr...

Tony Allen looked like an idiot on the floor - but that's normal with him. One night he plays like an all star the next night he can join Scalabrene "I suck" camp. That's why Posey will be sooo missed because he filled that 6th man role - perfectly with his consistent good play and smart decisions while Tony is more like a gamble. At this point we don't have that true 6th man yet. Powe/Baby/Allen - all three can be good in one night and very bad the next night. So it's 50-50. Celtics and the rest of the org. needs to do something and see who they can get through trade or something that can be serious threat off the bench. I think we have an OK bench nothing really threatening. Last season we had Posey who clearly can't be replaced. I wish we got Maggette when we had a chance. We also had PJ Brown who is now gone. Hate him or love him SamIam is a vet and that's what counts. That's why I think D.M will be cut.

Where did this idea come from that Posey was this ultra consistent impact 6th man off the bench for the Celtics. There were many times last season and post season that the bench played downright horrible. Posey, was always committed to the team defense but there were many games where he struggled one on one to defend scoring wings. Offensively, Posey was wholly dependent on others to make plays for him. This is why Ray and Paul played huge minutes... Posey is limited offensively to basically being a spot up shooter/cutter.

Now, Tony might be have plenty more ups and downs but the reality is that his highs are much higher than Posey's... whily admittedly his lows are much lower than Posey's as well. The bench is still coming together and it will take time for that unit to be consistently cohesive. Early in the season the bench is going to have its ups and downs (much like any bench) but by the end of the season they (including TA) will be much more consistent because they will have a better understanding of their role.
