Great move. Sort of a no brainer considering Danny delivered us to the promised land.

Good for him. Not sure what the difference in power is between Executive Director of Basketball Operations and President of Basketball Operations, but it sounds better.

So let me get this straight, you do a bad job for years, then admit you cannot draft by trading players and picks for established aging stars, and you finally win. Then you get promoted and a raise. I want to work for this organization.
Who else thinks they could draft better than all Chicago teams?

knicks fans weren't the only ones who thought ainge was a moron. pretty much everyone outside of a small minority of RealGMer's thought the same thing.

good for Danny. our franchise is in good hands.

Completely wrong! :p

Danny came in and said that it is going to be a 3-4 year plan of rebuilding. He said it was all about collecting assets which is exactly what he did. You are wrong, and he ended up doing what he said he was going to do.

A GM that followed his plan all the way through while facing huge criticisms...he never gave up on his plan. That's a sign of a good GM. He never did bad except for a signing or two.

If we cannot draft well then how are we trading these "terrible draft picks" for aging stars? They obviously had some value right or we wouldn't have gotten jack? We took some "bad draft picks" and in return got KG and RA. You suck Ainge!

Obviously we got the right "aging stars" huh? Ainge said it was going to take a few years before we had the pieces to build a contender. Your post is a joke. Go home troll

:o
I'm stunned that some of these morons STILL don't get it. even after it's been accomplished!

ok, here it is in simple English. In order to trade for superstars, you need 3 things: Draft picks, young talent with upside, and large expiring contracts. While everyone was bashing Ainge, he was busily collecting these three things in abundance. So when the time came and a superstar was on the block (which happens every year of course), he was the first in line with a nice trade package. In fact, he collected so many of these assets, he was able to trade for not one but TWO such superstars in a single offseason, both in or near the prime of their career! i can't ever recall that happening before in the CBA era.

so Ainge wasn't admitting he "cannot draft" by trading away his young guys. the plan was to draft so well that other GMs are motivated to trade for our kids. which ainge did (and continues to do, even with low picks). it took 3 years to put it all together because he started with almost zero, an aging talentless roster with no cap space. but now that it's done, it should be pretty obvious what happened. if you can't see it now, trust me, it's not ainge that's the dumb one.
