Ainge: Get Mcdyess!!!
Cut Sam Cassell, and sign Antonio Mcdyess. I know that Ainge is a big fan of Mcdyess from his days in Phoenix with him and he would be a perfect fit in our system. He is a tough, jumpshooting big man who can play the five spot off the bench. A role player at this point and has no problem with it.
Our bigs off the bench would then be Powe and Mydyess, TA at the wing, and Eddie at the backup guard spot. Now if Doc would only play Pruitt some more...

If you read the story on espn.com it says that McDyess has no interest in playing for anyone but Detroit.

Re: Ainge: Get Mcdyess!!!
this would be a solid move to strengthen out front court and again provide veteran tutelage to Powe and Bbd
i don't see it happening though

If McDyess is bought out and willing, I am definitely a fan of signing him.

I agree he'd be a nice fit, he's been rumored to be close to coming here once or twice...I think he could be convinced.
Haven't the "get waived and return" loopholes been closed?

Re: Ainge: Get Mcdyess!!!
It is unclear whether McDyess, a valued sixth man in Detroit, will stay with the Nuggets. There is speculation that he will have his contract bought out and perhaps return to the Pistons after a mandatory 30-day waiting period. New York Times
Andy Miller, the agent for both Billups and McDyess, said the 34-year-old McDyess was not happy when he learned of the trade. His client gave thought to several options, including retirement. Michigan Live
Rumors are running rampant the Denver Nuggets are going to buy-out recently acquired forward Antonio McDyess. Even Carmelo Anthony mentioned he had heard something about McDyess possibly not coming to Denver. However, Nuggets' Vice President of Player Personnel Rex Chapman indicated otherwise. When asked if the plan was to keep McDyess, Champman replied: "Yeah, all plans." "Antonio is a terrific player -- a former teammate actually -- and a classy, classy human being," Chapman added. "I'm always excited to see Antonio." HoopsWorld.com
A source with knowledge of the trade discussions says that the Nuggets would be willing to discuss a buyout with McDyess, but only if he agrees to a "significant" amount less than the $13.6 million he's due through the end of the 2009-10 season. NBA.com

Re: Ainge: Get Mcdyess!!!
He can return to the Pistons 30 days after he is waived. The rule is simply to address the deadline deals like with Sheed and Walker were veteran pgs went right back to the team that traded them a week after the deadline.
But the McDyess getting waived concept is from outer space. The dude has two years at 6.5 and 6.8 mil with a trade kicker and the Nuggets are over the lux tax, and issue they gave Camby away over I am going to guess that old Stan is not going to pay over 26 mil for the privilege of not having Dyess play for him. He can give back all the money I guess or demand a trade somewhere else but why wouldn't he just go back to DEN were he has been quite happy in the past and DEN could certainly use him.
Dyess is a strange dude and some would say not a very bright individual but money is money and something tells me he will get over this transaction.
The only reasonable trade concept with Boston is not that reasonable. Boston would send Scal with Leon/Gabe/Baby/Giddens to DEN that would at least leave DEN with only Scal's 3.4 and Giddens 1mil on the books instead of Dyess at 6.8. But 5 for 1 deals midseason for veteran role players don't exactly happen every day. Please no one package Eddie or Tony with Scal and expect DEN to take that what is the point it is the same money as just keeping Dyess.

How can McDyess not want to return to the McNuggets?
Don't get this trade from Det's POV, by the way.

Re: Ainge: Get Mcdyess!!!
If there is a buyout there is a great chance of this happening - regardless of what the media may be reporting -- there is no way to trade for him though, as we don't have the bit salaries to make it work I don't believe -- TA/House/Scal are all 2 year deals, so its not pragmatic for DEN to trade - maybe a creative 3-way with a team under the cap, but it is highly unlikely that Boston would significantly alter their current roster -- if they can't get Dyess as a FA, I doubt he will come --- I GUARANTEE that the Celtics are inquiring though, of that there is no doubt...

Yes it was in 2004 but he ended up signing with Det. I remember that offseason my dreams were of getting him and Brent Barry instead I had to wait another few years for KG and Ray Ray it seemed to work out.

Re: Ainge: Get Mcdyess!!!
One thing that isn't quite as exciting but might make sense in the replacing the role of PJ and Posey is Juwan Howard who DEN released to make room for the trade. He has been in the break glass in case of emergency role and done well. If we are actually using Scal in the rotation then we have a role for Howard.
The problem with the buyout is that Dyess has to give up a lot of money, like all of next year's money or there is simply no motivation from DEN who is thin upfront to buy him out.
On the other hand Dyess' agent is Andy Miller who happens to be KG's agent, so obviously some info can be passed along. Now if they did Cassell a solid by telling him to leave the money on the table and we will get you back next season they can do the same for Dyess and tell him to take the buy out and he can have the MLE in Boston for one year next year. Obviously no Joe Smith signed agreeements just an understanding one that will not be coming from DET who is clearing cap space.

I'm hoping he stays in Denver. Their bigs are too injury-prone for him just to leave like that. Sign PJ later and then look for a Center in free agency next season.

The dump a volume scorer who cannot defend and needs the ball in his hands (when they already have a guy who needs the ball and cannot defend, but is more efficient in Melo) for a true point who is a great defender, and at the same time open up playing time for JR Smith. That team wasn't going to win with AI, so they had to do something.
