OT: Does Matt Carroll have more value than Scalabrine?

From the Nets point of view, I keep those players. Ainge could offer Scalabrine and a young player coming up with a far better offer if New Jersey indeed wants to rid themselves of these two players and salaries. Still, that's funny of the writer... They "would be willing..." Carroll? Are you serious...?
Oh, alright... You can have Carroll. You know this is unfair, right? Anyways, we'll take back your two players who are far better... I mean your "garbage" for a player we obviously would prefer to retain. Man, this trade is so one-sided but we believe that the Nets are getting back a phenomenal talent. Yes, the players we're receiving are decent--we'll get by some how. The injustice. Stern should step in and block trades such as this from happening. The Bobcats aren't getting nearly enough back in equal value. Watch, the Nets will be the team to beat in the east after acquiring Carroll. Lookout Boston, there's a new "big three" on the block: Carter, Harris and Carroll. Not to mention, they've Yi to boot. The Celtics fans just got nervous... Hope that this trade doesn't go through. Because Kapono doesn't have bleep on him.
...the backup plan is to pursue lesser lights like the Nets' Sean Williams. Judging by the 6-10 sophomore's lack of daylight, he's someone the Nets feel they can do nicely without.
Sources say Charlotte would be willing to give up Matt Carroll (owed five years, currently $5.05M; ending at $3.5M) and take Trenton Hassell's two-year obligation ($4.3M/$4.3M), as well as Williams' two-year debt ($1.52M/$1.63M) off New Jersey's books.

Hell, *I* have more value than Scal...face it, the guy **** sucks....he hit a few 3's in a playoff series for the Nets 6 years ago and somehow turned it into a lucrative (at least $$$-wise, compared to the rest of us) NBA career...

Yeah, scal is not good. I bet 3/4 of the board knows more about the history/the game of basketball then Scal. And half of us could take scal in a game of 1 on 1.
Does anyone disagree with that?

I am saying RELATIVE to all other NBA players, he has to be one of the worst, skills-wise, conditioning-wise (along with Big Baby), etc.

Because of Carrol's atrocious contract for his ability level Scalabrine has more trade value then him. I am not saying scalabrine is better, I am saying both are not worth half there money and scals contract is for less and much shorter.
If your point is could we get sean williams pot smoking shot blocking butt here, if we were willing to take on a little extra salary yes, but who do we move with Scal, Baby or Powe or POB? is there pt for williams he does not sound like the type of guy who would be content sitting on the bench, he is not a charecter guy, that doesnt mean i dont like him as a player, i would bring him in if I thought we had minutes for him, barring Baby or Powe being traded in another deal i dont think we do.

IMO Scal is more valuable than Hassell but less valuable than Carroll. Carroll's really not that bad at all. While I don't know how much he's valued around the league, he is a poor man's Peja Stojakovic (but stays healthy). I would take him over Kapono any day of the week.
Thats actually a great deal for NJ, IMO, Hassell sucks balls and while I'm not sure they should have given up on Sean Williams by now he does seem to have attitude issues and is in Lawrence Frank's doghouse and is one of many young mediocre big men on NJ's roster.
Now, if we could land Sean Williams, I'm open to that, KG can play a motivator role, but I'm not sold on his size as a C. The one prospect out there currently riding the pine that I would love to see on the C's is Javaris Crittenton. I know we don't have minutes for him, but he's just a very solid and very young prospect riding the end of Memphis' bench. Greg Buckner's been getting minutes over him, for god sakes.

a NJ poster had the idea of Pruitt+POB for Williams on the trade board, sounds like a perfect fit to me. We still have an "upside" big and we free up a roster spot for a midseason pickup.

I would hate to lose Pruitt, I think he is going to be a baller. But for Williams I would probably do it.

I would love to see williams on this team. Pruit and POB I would do that deal in a second.

Scal sucks and all but he would school everybody in here at one on one. He's a big dude and would back you down and just score at will.

No Way!
In recent weeks we have seen LBJ lose in horse, and devin harris lose in a game.
Lots of guys are big dudes. I would just run around his fat veal ass and lay it in.
Now obviously he must have some talent. He could step back and toss 3's over us all day. but will they go in all the time?
FYI: Veal is the only one I will say this about that plays basketball. That includes NCAA and WNBA.

Who do you guys think wins in a game of one on one between a PRIME Scal(I'd constitute that as that one mythical playoff game between NJ and DET), and Lisa Leslie TODAY?

Tough call, man...
I'd have to go with Lisa...Scal has the bulk advantage but she's got more skills!

Wow we obviously have some end of the bench type ballers in this forum. I'm impressed.
Who cares if LBJ lost at Horse. To people saying well I'm faster and I'd just run circles around him......that's funny
Scal is what 6'8"? He would just swat everything you threw up and would just back you down and just lay it in. He wouldn't have to do much.
Yes he sucks compared to an average NBA player, in fact he's one of the worst.

It's common knowledge that shooters will generally have a place in the league. Line up players such as Carroll, Scalabrine, Kapono, Korver, Damon Jones...etc. Who are they better than among the average reserve players in the league? What are they as players minus their perimeter shooting? And Scalabrine could be the worst of the aforementioned players.
The trade checker says that O'Bryant can't be traded until December 15th. A package of Scalabrine, O'Bryant and Davis for Williams and Hassell could work after that date. Then trade Hassell for Joe Smith.

^^^ Scal would own anyone on this board one on one. In fact I would be kinda surprised if anyone got 2 points on him. Okay Scal isn't the greatest NBA player but your badly understimating the skill of NBA players.
It's like some of my tennis buddies who think they could take advantage of Andy Roddick's bad volley's LMAO. If you played Scal one on one not only would he own you but it would feel like he was playing a different game then you.. <g>
