11/13 Victory Cigar - Uhm I thought this was the Hawks?

Post#1 » by sully00 » Thu Nov 13, 2008 4:50 pm

Who the hell are those guys? Damn no Smith, Horford in foul trouble and most importantly no ZaZa in the second half and we need a kill shot from #34 in the final second. Maurice Evans and Flip Murray? Who knew?

Awesome game to watch and the Hawks are for real. Great to see us hold our composure and ride on the captains back all the way to Victory. Great game from the starters and a great reason to sign McDyess from the bench. Paul gets it for the dagger.

It only took 10 years for them to become relevant, but I'm glad a different team is good, sick of the same teams every year.

Pierce easily.

Has to be Paul. Not only for the great game but the ending.

The inclusion of Perk reminds me, I need to vent one thing about Perk here. The guy STILL has not learned to STOP DRIBBLING THE BALL when he gets it under the hoop and just go up. There was a play last night that was a classic case in point. He received a pass from KG AT HEAD LEVEL and instead of going right up (he had the defender beat) he bends down, puts it on the floor, and is promptly double teamed. Yes, he ended up getting fouled and made the FTs, but in times past he also will have it stripped or blocked.

Perk, STOP PUTTING IT ON THE FLOOR AND JUST GO UP!

That is all.

It is funny I know we are supposed to hate them because the playoffs last season but I love that team. From Bibby to even Marvin Williams, that starting unit are all guys that could play for me. The have a good bench, they already getting bit with the injury bug and probably need another big man but they could win 50 games.

I guess it's their attitude that pisses me off most, like they've been there/done that. Acting like that is reserved for people/teams who have actually accomplished something in the league. Contrast the Hawks behavior in the playoffs/this season with NO last year. Vastly different.

They remind me of a talentless version of us last year. A bunch of good position defenders and one bad one in the starting lineup [Ray/Bibby].

They really did copy our defense lol!

See ATL copied what worked, while TOR fans whine that fouls weren't call.

I'm happy for ATL, as long as TOR and NY Knicks are dead last in the league I'm happy.

The Hawks played well and shot lights out from the 3 point land. But had Ray and House not combined for 2-16 shooting beyind the arc, we would have won easily. It's time to sit House down and play Pruitt.

Got to be Paul from last night.

And I'm agreeing with you return2glory, Eddie House has to be getting on thin ice.

I like Eddie and as we head into the holiday season I am going to try and be nice about it but he is **** killing me. He should get 2 maybe 3 shots and then it is time to try something else because he isn't knocking them down he is really hurting this team if he is lined up as a pg.

I can't believe Atlanta didn't play Eddie tight in the fourth. I think they gotta work in Gabe. Eddie can get some two guard minutes when Tony shows up high for games like he did last night.

Why can't House be moved to the 2 and Pruitt play at the 1? Reduce Ray Allen's minutes by just a few and I see no reason a 5-man reserve unit can't work. It's certainly around the time where Pruitt should get minutes.

Automatic win for Pierce. I'm starting to get concerned about lack of minutes for Pruitt, POB (who suddently nobody remembers; is he in the doghouse? I'd like to know more) and even Walker; Ray and Paul are racking up a lot of minutes lately.

Funny. The game crew picked KG as the MVP, but that was before Paul hit the dagger.

I only caught the 2nd half so my pick went to Paul -- for his scoring and for winning the game -- but I didn't expect him to be winning this poll Castro-style.

I really think Gabe could emerge and give us solid shooting, better defense and a better handle. I know Eddie is a vet and we are trying to win a championsip. But If he cant hit a shot. Give Pruitt some minutes.

Doc was pretty down on POB at the end of the preseason and basically said he needed to get up to Cetlic speed that he was still at Patrick O'Bryant speed.

I thought Pruitt played well in the preseason. I think that Doc may want Tony to completely settle in before adding anything to the mix which is fair. Add to that beyond the money Eddie wanted to play and the writing is on the wall as far as the back up SG mins so they may want to let Eddie to play himself out of that back up pg spot.

I can't wait for Bill Walker either but I don't expect much run for him till mid season.

Doc mentioned in an interview a few days back he's going to play the Big 3 a bunch of minutes the first 15-20 games or so to get them into good shape (game-wise) and then cut back and increase bench minutes.

Sounds like a good idea to me...it's important to win these early games until things settle down on both sides of the ball so you're not in a big hole come mid-season

Also, I think it was Tommy or was it Donny Marshall saying that homecourt advantage for the playoffs can be won within the first 25-30 games of the season by getting so damn far ahead of the pack that you can actually HAVE the luxury of resting guys a bit more later in the season. Just like you said Insatiable.

I never bought the argument that early season wins "matter" more than late season wins...if you weren't struggling to be 7 games over .500 come March or April, then the late-season games against Oklahoma City and Memphis wouldn't require your starters to play 40+ minutes....

Still, it's nice to get off to a good start early...makes catching up unnecessary...
