what is the Over/Under on Perk

What is the over/under on the number of Technical Fouls that will be called on Perkins this year? In 11 Games he has 6 Technical fouls. At his rate he will be serving his one game suspension before Janruary 1st.

Perkins can be a real idiot. I mean, I was watching him play and the opposing team was dribbling the ball up the court [on their half], and the opposing team's Center was getting position, and Perkins fouled him. I ask, WHY?!! For **** sake ... they were like 7 seconds away from even getting into their 1/2 court offense.
He makes stupid fouls .... and it can be really annoying.

He also is one of those players who believes they have never committed a foul in their careers and is fouled themselves everytime they miss a contested shot. He needs to shut up and play instead of carrying on to the refs all the time.

I agree he commits a lot of dumb fouls, and the guy is still a moron when it comes to offense. For **** sake, Perk, STOP DRIBBLING AND PUTTING THE BALL ON THE FLOOR!!!! When you get it, go right up with it. And Perk, you have no moves and no shot, so please, no more jumpers and "hook" shots (I swear Perk hitting those jumpers in that game early in the season was the worst thing because now he thinks he has SKILLZ!

He's been in the league 6 years...surely some progress should have been made in these areas, no?

Perk needs to play with a chip on his shoulder, he's our defensive enforcer. I love the fact that he plays pissed off, he's not out there for hugs and kisses, he's the guy that is going to knock you on your ass when you try to take it to the rim. As for complaining about his offense he takes 4.7 shots a game and hits 50%+ of them, BFD. If you can't see the progress Perk has made you need to stop just checking the box score and watch the damned games.

It's fine if he plays with a chip on his shoulder, but he needs to be able to do so without hurting the team. A technical every now and then is fine, I understand things get emotional. But 6 in 11 games is just out of line. You don't want to develop a reputation with the refs as a guy who draws Ts.

^^^This. Exactly.
And not screwing it up every time he gets the ball on offense would be nice, too...

C'mon, he's never going to be an all-star, but claiming he screws it up "everytime" he is on offense and that he's made no progress since his rookie year are exaggerations. He is relatively reliable on the block basically because teams aren't going to double team him, not flashy but he makes a good percentage of those little jump hooks. He's about 10X better than he was even a few years ago. As for the T's, I do agree that he is on a ridiculous pace but I expect that to even out. He's the muscle on the defending champs, teams are 100% out to beat us every night to prove something, things have been chippy... and so far I'd say it's made for some damned good November basketball.

^^Maybe I was a bit harsh...he has progressed a LOT since his rookie year, when he was very raw.
I still think offensively he is pretty bad...he could have WAY more points, easier too, if he STOPPED putting it on the floor when he gets the pass at chest or head level and just went up with it!! He did it again a bunch last night and is just lucky the Knicks are so poor defensively that he didn't pay for it. And that horrific fadeaway...I know he made it, but does anyone here really want to see him take that shot on a regular basis??

I disagree completely Insatiable. Frankly I think Perkins needs more touches on the block, especially when he has a favorable matchup like he did last night. Two reasons: one, I think he's actually a pretty decent scorer in the post when he gains confidence - I actually like the fade-away and the shot put hook, never particularly pretty but effective; two, by going inside to Perkins (and Powe) it brings better structure and balance to the offense - basketball is a game that is won near the basket, on both ends. So, by going to Perkins (and Powe) early and often the Celtics are better able to soften up the middle (foul trouble for opposing bigs and a physical pounding on the opposing bigs) and collapse the defense to allow for more shooting room for Paul, Ray, Eddie, and KG.
By going to Perk, building his confidence, and hopefully making him a more consistent offensive force you throw a wrench in the schemes of opposing defenses. This is also why it's important for Rondo to take the mid-range shot, even though it's a potentially low percentage shot, it helps to establish a better balance and structure to the offense.

I agree with what you're saying, I would like Perk to be more of a factor on the offensive end...it would definitely open it up for the rest of the guys, especially the Big 3 on the starting 5. Then we'd only be playing 4 on 5 offensively (Rondo, obviously).
I guess my beef with Perk is he still does the annoying little things that big men are taught NOT to do in junior high and high school ball...put it on the floor, dribble too much, not throw fakes, etc. I think if he ever learned to work on those little things, he'd be much more effective.

I think you're right, humblebum. When Perk played as a man among boys in high school he was a monster scorer. Now that he's got his defense in such good shape, still in his early 20's, I expect his offense to rise fairly steadily in coming years. The C's are going out of their way to use Powe as a low post presence early in their offense, and I expect they'll use Perk more that way over time.
As for the technicals, sure he'd be better off with fewer of them, but he's also still learning. This is the first year he's getting some respect from the refs, working the refs is clearly part of the NBA game, and I expect he'll figure it out. I think we've had enough glimpses of him off the court to know he's an honorable, loyal, standup and protective guy. That is, he's not just a punk on or off the court, needing to be reined in.
