Are we able to trade Sam now? or do we have to wait until a certain time after he is signed until we can trade him?

I am looking at the salaries right now and I would think the only way that makes sense for us to make a trade would be with Scal, Sam and (giddens, walker or BBD). which would make up about $5M.

I know we could throw all of giddens, walker and BBD but I really doubt any team would want or can to take on 5players.

Sam will never be tradable. Why would anyone trade for him?

Nobody is going to take Scal this year. Next year, maybe, but not this year. Give it up people. And I really don't see any value with Davis and Giddens or even Walker and Pruitt.

About the only way Sam gets traded is if he is included in a deal

as "filler", and gets waived by the receiving team.

This would likely be a deal where the Celtics took back a longer term contract than

what they sent out.

Doubt that there's anyone appropriate right now, though,

with what the Celtics have to offer.

The Celtics would probably get no more than a second round pick for Davis,
considering how he's played this year.

This springs draft is supposeded to be extremely weak.

Walker or Giddens might have some value to a team needing an athletic

wing player who can defend, but the Celtics won't be able to get what they'd

want (probably like a twenty somethingish First Round Pick or $3 Million cash)

before June.

Sam is not much of a trade commondity, beyond his own game his salary is insignificant in a deal it is the same as dealing POB, he adds about $800,000 to a trade, not the 1.2 mil he is making.

Outside of the uselessness that is Scal which nobody is taking, you are left with House or Tony Allen to use as salary in a deal. This first half of the year may be sorting out which one of these two the team wants to go with and then will try and move the other for a pg option.

Walker is going nowhere and Giddens probably could be had by anyone that has a trade exception.

Unless we get a back up center who can play we can't trade Big Baby.

At this point the thing to keep on eye is situations like Marcus Williams in GS who is in the last year of his rookie deal Nellie obviously doesn't like him, but he is at least a serviceable NBA pg which at the moment we may not have behind Rondo.

I watched Marcus Williams play a lot at UCONN. He does not like to run, he is a deliberate, ball control, half court PG. Nellie likes his teams to run, so I am not surprised that he doesn't like Marcus.

Although he could be good, he's still young and after Rondo, I think we could use some more NBA playoff type experience. Unless Rondo doesn't come out of his funk by the allstar break, I would rather the Celts get another experienced PF or C or another long range shooter before another PG.

Sam won't be traded because no one will want him, and he is basically an assistant coach and the C's told him they'd hire him on full-time as such once he retires...so he ain't going anywhere...
