He has great hand and great post moves. How good could he be?

He'd be pretty damn good. He's good enough to start on most teams as is, but I think if he was taller and didn't lose everything that makes him Leon, he'd be amazing.

A very good starter that makes an All-Star game or two.
He has the skills and attitude, he will go far, but IMO he isnt HOF material.

Assuming he could keep his same athleticism and balance? Unstoppable.

I disagree with the premise.
He's a potential Hall of Famer at his current height.
I think his size is PERFECT for posting up, except for maybe on d howard.
Just look at the results, one championship already, slam dunks all up in the lakers grills, amazing highlights that will live forever.
A few post players are just So big that nobody can push them off the spot and make them lose balance (Snaq, Perk) but for a typical post player it's optimal to have a fair amount of size and strength but still be very nimble and have good balance with defenders pushing you and leaning on you, some guys aren't as good with their back to the basket because their a little too tall and their center of gravity prevents them from being able to keep their balance and stay nimble when defenders lean on them.
Leon is not too tall, just right, so his center of gravity isn't too high, he can dig in and get down low to get that leverage on the defender and feel him out then decide what move to lay on him, because he has his balance about him the whole time.
The way they push KG in the back to throw him off (which many times is a foul that's never called) is the same thing they will do to Greg Oden if he tries to post consistently, and he too will be thrown off balance because he is taller and has a higher center of gravity.
Oden will Never have the Mid-range Jumper of KG either, I would take KG anyday: getting the worst pick was the best thing that could have happened, funny how that works ! KG is not as monstrous as Oden but just as effective and just as exciting to watch...Oden won't be a bust imo though, he's gonna do damage, but I dont' know if he'll be as proficient in post as Leon (not talking about the many catch and dunks Oden will get) I'm talking catching the ball far out and being able to post and back your guy down then shake him and go up.

He reminds me of Greg Oden in college.

Yes he would be a HOFer - but so would Pierce or Ray Allen.

It's very often the smaller players are more skilled and talented - they have so much more competition growing up.

i don't think there's a bigger powe fan on the board than me, and even i don't think he has HOF potential. of course that's partly because of his knees. but you should have seen him before the injuries... >> elton brand.

You might not THINK he's a potential HOF, that would be because you are not too bright.
OBVIOUSLY, this guy has HOF POTENTIAL.
IF he was on another team he would definetly be starting and averaging 18 and 10, or BETTER.
Leon Powe, like Tony Allen, is still gaining his hops and strength back somewhat after his knee surgery, Leon is further along then Tony, but also he's taller so it's not as noticable because he can still mash with authority, fact is, I SEE LEON'S HOP IMPROVING FROM MONTH TO MONTH.
Leon is getting more and more nimble and his hops are now back at a near amazing level, did you see that mash last night he got up their quick like Amare before his surgeries, I'ma tell u, if you don't think he atleast has the Potential as young and good as he is right now, then you're not intelligent and are a lower class type of Celtics fan.
He also was able to mature as a player at a fast pace in order to be there as a key piece for the Celtics Championship, that bodes well for future HOF potential especially since he's so good now and only getting better all the time...he's also improved his defense substantially starting last year but it seems to be excellerating this year.

If Powe was 7ft you're talking about one of those generation defining Centers. Had he not been zapped of some of his athletic ability because of the knee injuries he's an all star pf....Somewhere in between Anthony Mason and Elton Brand IMO.

another moron ^
luls @ Powe not having All Star/HOF potential.
I'd say he's got a better then 60% chance, if he continues on his current path.
Imagine the numbers he would put up as a Starter, LEON POWE IS THE BEST POST PLAYER ON THE CHAMPIONSHIP CELTICS.

Perkisabeast, man, you are too much fun. Thanks for adding some flavor to the board. Wacky. But good.

Uugghh ... some of you guys are going too far with leon Powe. He's a nice bench player, but to say he has has "great" post moves and that he has HOF potential is just off.
He's a hustle player who gets dirty inside. He does a decent job of cleaning the glass on both ends, but he is not a starting PF.

Leon is nice....and at 7 foot...very nice. How can we make it happen...i remember reading about some japenese twins who had their legs broken and grafts done, they spent 12 months in bed, but got out after a like an inch taller....can we afford to go with out leon for 12months? Or would we be better spending our bone grafting money on Scal? A 7 foor redhead....nice. On the topic of Scal...have the Celtics marketing depatrment thought about selling a ScalaBEANY? I'd buy one. A red hair tubby beany baby.
Would the NBA look down upon players wearing stilts?
But I'd luv to see a 7 foot Big Baby...he'd be like a teddy bear version of Shaq.

^^^ Some of you? It's just one probably very young poster.
Actually the HOF is very difficult for even very good players to make. Even if Leon was averaging 20/10 for the rest of his career he might not make it. Even Dwight Howard is not a lock. You have to do something 'special' with your career. PP and RA are borderline guys - despite some awesome statistics they have put up. They would need another world championship at least to possibly get them in and maybe 2 more to be locks.
KG is the most likely guy to make the hall. I thought Len Bias would be the next HOF guy when the C's drafted him. HOF guys are so rare they usually don't come out of nowhere. They tend to be guys who were well known in college and HS.

Nah man. You got to get to them while they are young and can still respond to human growth hormone. It's too late for Leon now.
