Boston looking at Marbury.......

I wonder if this would mess with the teams chemistry or would a move to Boston "wake" Starbury up for revenge....is Danny serious about this possible move?
Although Marbury has stalled the process by not employing an agent to find him a team willing to sign him, the person with knowledge of the negotiations said that won't be an issue. "He'll get a deal. Trust me," the person said. "Teams are lining up." Among the teams that could be willing to take a chance on Marbury are Miami, Dallas,
Boston, and San Antonio, according to a person with ties to Marbury. CBSSports.com / November 30
Stay tuned....

ps....and Miami might not get a shot...
http://www.nypost.com/seven/12012008/sp ... 141633.htmAccording to a source, Players Association attorney Hal Biagas has contacted teams to gauge interest, with Miami high on Marbury's list. Knicks brass may ask Marbury not to sign with Pat Riley as part of the settlement. Marbury said he's off to Los Angeles for a week of training, to get back into game shape, after the sides agree on a settlement.

LOL. If Danny thinks it is a good idea.....................I guess we can try it out. He's definitely been mistreated and mishandled in NY and if there's one coach who can get him to commit it's Doc. Cassell is his buddy, I wonder if he'd give up his spot for Marbury.

Not really. It would be for vet min. He would obviously have a very short leash. I don't really think we need him. But I don't think He would poison the team if we did. KG, Pierce, Ray and everyone else wouldn't let him and He would be out the door so fast if he tried.

We have good character guys and this team is made up already. Marbury is still a very capable player, just see how baron davis is now. They can play but can also be victims of bad system and surroundings. If we let him understand his role here, he would not be a bad 6th man. last time he was playing a full season, he was averaging 16ppg and 6apg.. bad? definitely not. and he was actually in a very good playing form during the preseason when he wanted to earn his minutes this year.
as far as him destroying team chemistry, same thing was said to cassell when we tried to sign him so we should give him a shot. he would help imo.

The only thing I can say is at least he doesn't sound crazy. I wish Pruitt was more involved or Eddie was any good at playing pg but neither one is happening so you have to be open to this idea. We lack 3 pt shooting, bench scoring and ball handling and guys with friggin tattoos on their heads, ugh.

I've been critical of Marbury in the past, but there also clearly continues to be dis-functional management with the Knicks so I don't think it's clear that Steph is the sole culprit. Presumably there is a way that Walsh and D'Antoni could have screwed the situation up worse, I just can't imagine how.
It might be that Marbury is just at a point where he'd welcome just getting focused on playing some basketball, and the Celtics might be able to offer that for him.
Although a roster move would need to be done to make it happen, if Marbury didn't work out he could be sent home or bought out. At a low contract, he's not much of a risk from that standpoint.
I'm far more open to this now, and think giving him a chance would be fine.

For the vet min it would be a fairly low-risk move, with decent upside potential. Not sure I'd want to give up anything beyond that though.....

The prudent thing to do is for all Celtic fans to get their heads tattooed just in case in happens...
...and hey, if the deal falls through, no harm done.

I think 80% of Marbury's career being tarnished is the fault of the Knicks organization, coaching, and players. He was an extremely talented and failry saught after player when he first joined the Knicks.
That being said, I don't think we need him. Rondo is showing that he deserves 30-35 minutes a night, and I don't think Steph would be happy with 20 mpg off the bench... it would also throw off Eddie House.
I think an underacheiving team like San Antonio or Phili would be interested... or possibly a team like the Bucks or Bulls who are a solid starting PG away from making the playoffs.

Anyone sick of starbury talk? Not about him coming to the C's. But just in general. Buy him out already! I am sick of the espn breaking news headlines, and RGM's wiretaps, saying "Marbury might be bought out." It's old news, we have been hearing this for more then a year.

WHat 72 hours without a new thread on this junk wasn't enough? BOS doesnt want him at all. He is a total PIA. Why would they want to deal with his massive ego when they are kicking everyones ass?

If Ainge thinks it can help the team, then I'm down for it. I trust Ainge. IMO Marbury is still a very talented player. He can contribute more to us that Cassell and Pruitt right now.
The question is if Marbury can be more effective than House while playing only 12-15 minutes a game? Marbury is the better play maker, House is the better shooter.

Would you rather read or hear about Eddy Curry or Jamaal Tinsley trade rumors? Inquiring minds want to know what's what with Marbury.
Yes, please conclude already. These reports are like movie sequels. As to say, "I Know What You Did Last Summer" and "I Still Know What You Did Last Summer." Um, yeah... How about I know what happened to you THIS FALL. You got fined near $400,000.

Oh good, another Marbury thread.
No need for Marbury. Did any of you guys actual watch Marbury play defense? He would fit in on a team that doesn't play defense and just jacks up shots but not the Celtics. The Celtics need a vet big man and a vet SF, not a useless overrrated PG. Just pass on Marbury.

That sounds like the guy who will be our backup PG come spring unless an alternate is found. The question is, is Marbury an upgrade on Sam, who has the same qualities you've mentioned but on a 37 year old frame?
