Spin here, This sticky is to keep tabs on our kids in the D-league, post nightly updates and discuss their progress here.

I may be slow, but I just found out that all D-League games can be watched for free on NBA.com if you sign up for all access. As I was reading the Flash's website, I noticed they lost yesterday (although our boys did very well again as Walker went for 27 and JR 19) but I noticed that Smush Parker led the team they were playing with 26 points. I thought to myself.....Smush Parker? He's been in the league for quite a while now! I thought the D-League was for younger players...what is the guidelines. Can a team send ANY player to the D-league regardless of how long they've been in the league?

Just curious

He is not under contract with any team that is why Smush can play there...

What are the rules on how many guys you can send down? I'm guessing it is two but I thought in the past it was one.

I can't wait till the D league has a team for every nba team. Like a farm system.

Looks like both of them are playing well. In Giddens's last two games he's had 19/12 and 17/6. Bill Walker in his last two games had 23/8/4/5 and 26/5.

They're #s 1 and 2 in scoring on the Flash too.

Good game for Giddens, but they are now 1-2. I only watched a little bit of the game, but both of our guys have got to work on their handles if they are going to be slashers. (The biggest problem with TOs is the flash's staring point, he's averaging 5.67 TOs a game!)
The shooting for both players looks much better than what we saw in the preseason, I think that the pressure was probably getting to both of them. When I was watching, Giddens was able to get to the rack and draw contact, and from the box I see he shot 14 FTs. That should transfer well to the NBA.

He just came back from an injury and played his first game last week. Only got a few minutes, so we will see how he does in a month or two...

Utah 101, Reno 81

OREM, Utah, Dec. 5, 2008 -- J.R. Giddens and Bill Walker combined for 43 points to lead the Utah Flash to its first home win of the season, 101-81, over the expansion Reno Bighorns Friday at the Mckay Events Center.

Giddens led all scorers with 24 points, while Walker chipped in 19. Entering the game, the duo of Boston Celtics assignees has averaged a combined 45.3 points, 14.3 rebounds, 4.0 steals and 3.7 blocked shots per game through the Flash’s first three contests.

“We are just excited about getting to play again, and we are working on our game.” Walker said. “The whole time in Boston we were waiting for an opportunity to play, and we are glad to get that opportunity here.”

The Bighorns, who trailed by as many as 18 points in the first half, rallied in the third quarter and the beginning of the fourth period to whittle the Flash lead to six points.

An 8-2 Reno run in the opening minutes of the fourth quarter cut the Flash’s lead to 81-75. But Giddens , who scored 10 fourth-quarter points, led the Flash’s offensive surge in the final seven minutes -- scoring eight of the team's first nine points at the front end of a 20-6 Utah run to close out the game.

“Coach (Brad Jones) was calling my play and putting the ball into my hands, and I was able to make plays.” Giddens said. “My teammates trust me with the rock, and I just went out there and made plays when they needed to be made.”

The Flash had five players score in double-figures in scoring en route to a 53-percent (35-of-65) night from the field, including an 11-of-16 shooting performance from Giddens.

“We had a very good week of practice after losing our home opener.” Jones said. “Our guys were more patient within the offense tonight. We had 18 assists and that’s the highest we’ve had this year, so we were really looking to make the extra pass.”

Dontell Jefferson and Bennet Davis each chipped in 11 points for the Flash, while Carlos Wheeler led all Utah reserves with 13 points.

Antonio Meeking led all Reno scorers with 20 points, while Damone Brown and Jesse Smith chipped in 17 and 10 points, respectively.

Reno entered the night averaging 103.0 points per game, but the Utah defense forced 18 turnovers which led to 22 points, while holding the Bighorns to a season-low 81 points.

The Flash (2-2) travel to Bakersfield Saturday to take on the Jam, while the Bighorns (1-3) host the Anaheim Arsenal Friday in Reno.

Can we make a sticky so we can constantly report on the stats for Walker and Gidden?

Good games by Walker and Giddends again. Giddens had 24 and 9 rebounds and Walker had 19 points, going 9-9 from the FT line. I'm happy for these guys.

It seems Giddens is playing very well. I wouldn`t mind seeing JR getting some minutes for us at the back up SF spot...

Both of them are playing great. It's too bad one's not shorter and the other taller so they could fill some positions of need. There's little time available for wings.

True, But Depending on Ray Allen and Tony Allens future in boston. Their could be plenty of time available within the next year or two. Hell when we either trade or bench scal. Their will be 5-10 minutes right their for either player.

Or, how they play could affect at least one of the Allens' futures in Boston.

Hopefully they're working on the little things, like help defense, cutting down turnovers, and other things that will help them (other than just lighting up the stat sheet on a bad team). Utah lost by 41 last night, it doesn't get much uglier than that.

I watched some af that game on line, and even though they lost by 41 pts, it wasn't that close. I don't think they are getting taught how to play our defense, or any defense for that matter...

Doc won't play any young guys unless they can play in our defense and pick up their rotations, etc. Although I like both players and they have been doing well on the offensive end, it may be awhile before they learn our defense and can contribute to the Celts. Maybe next year?
