Why the Lakers are doomed

Hey yo!
I can't buy all that Laker hype. And not just because I really dislike them as a ballclub. I think they are clearly flawed. They are a team built for the regular season excitment but not for the playoff war.
1.- They are not a defensive minded team.
2.- Kobe, Gasol and Odom need space to operate but Lakers lack outside shooters so when they can't run they are going to have a rough time.
3.- Kobe and Gasol are great passers but the rest of the Lakers are not.
4.- They don't have power players. Nor backup bigs.
5.- They are slow players. Pau, Bynum, Odom need time to react.
6.- Kobe is too selfish. Odom is too coward. Pau thinks too much.
Any thoughts? Kind regards.

I'm not coming at you when I say this but lets stop talking about LA we are the past champs we shouldn't be concerned with LA until we play them.

Wow 4 Laker threads, I wonder what the record is for Laker threads on this board is ?...................Anybody know ?
Man some of you guys talk as if the Lakers are some start up kit type team it's laughable. The op's post was clearly flawed in the worst way. I mean to say we have no back up bigs ? Are you kidding me we have the most 7 footers in the league at 4 ( Pau 7'0", Drew 7'1", Mihm 7'0", Mbenga 7'0"). Then to say they're not a good passing team please.......the Lakers are 4th in the league in assist. Truthfully speaking this thread seemed like it was started by some youngster who hasn't check his facts.

Of course, I might be wrong. But...
LA has great talent as big backups. Chris Mihm and DJ Mbenga. They have played a key role for the Lakers this season so far. Combined for 35 minutes, 17 points and 7 rebounds. Simply scary!
Lakers 348 assists for 1.576 shots. Lakers' opponents 348 assists for 1.568 shots. Oops!
Basketball is all about the pace. You can gather great stats playing uptempo O but this might be deceiving. Suns, Mavs are clear examples of great regular season teams that miss the ring.
Defense wins championships. Teams win championship. Lakers are overhyped as were last season.

Yeah, we all know the Lakers are overhyped and a paper tiger. It does no good to discuss it here though, all it does is bring in the kool-aid kids from LA.

14-1, winning by almost 14 points a game, #1 in scoring, #8 in scoring defense.
What am I missing?
Sure, I still think the C's are better and will continue to think so until they beat us when it counts, but the Lakers are a very good team.
1.- They are not a defensive minded team. #8 in Team Defense says otherwise
2.- Kobe, Gasol and Odom need space to operate but Lakers lack outside shooters so when they can't run they are going to have a rough time. Fisher, Odom, VladRam all shooting over 43% from 3
3.- Kobe and Gasol are great passers but the rest of the Lakers are not. How many great passers does a team need? How many C's would you consider "great passers"?
4.- They don't have power players. Nor backup bigs. Andrew Bynum begs to differ, and it's the West, that's not how teams are put together out there. Compared to other Western teams, they're fine.
5.- They are slow players. Pau, Bynum, Odom need time to react. I wouldn't consider Odom slow, in fact he's a very mobile big and Bynum is just fine in this regard.
6.- Kobe is too selfish. Odom is too coward. Pau thinks too much. Kobe is leading the team in assists, Odom's "coward-ness" is overblown, Pau is a very skilled big man.
As much as it pains me to write those things, at least give them some credit. They're a very good team, one that goes 10 deep and is playing a much better brand of basketball this year compared to last.
Do I think we can beat them? Sure, but I wouldn't consider the Lakers "doomed" by any stretchof the imagination.

Great Passing Skills on the Celtics
1. Kevin Garnett
2. Paul Pierce
3. Rajon Rondo
One could argue that Perkins is way above average for guys his size. His outlet passing alone is worth noting.
Glen Davis and Powe are very adept at passing for their size and they are blessed with great hands.
The Lakers are going to have a surprise this year for Christmas. Ironically, it will be more of the same...
