You Guys see this? KG snappin off!

Post#1 » by HicksvsKnicks08 » Thu Dec 4, 2008 12:42 am

Five games, five Golden State losses and a more than 2:1 turnover-to-assist ratio. Maggette's selfish play hasn't gone unnoticed by other players. According to sources, after the final buzzer against Boston, Celtics forward Kevin Garnett turned to Maggette and shouted, "Way to get your numbers."

Love Garnett, its great when you can love a player even if he's not on your favorite team :D

its not just kg noticing how selfish he is.

practically the whole gsw board is hating on him. there is this thread asking people to give their corey nicknames and one dude writes something like "corey 'masturbating" maggette - because instead of defending, he has his hands down his pants...or something like that.

damn - they hate him. and league sources from that team are already letting it out that they regret signing him. that team is sad. they never seem to get players to stick around. just a year ago they beat dallas and now they are at .500.

it didn't realize he was this selfish. look at his boxscores. you'll see a 35 point game with zero assists. plus he ain't a three point shooter - in the nellie system?!!!!!!!

I remember a lot of us were breathing hot & heavy when DA made some overtures to Maggette during the offseason... boy, it sounds like we dodged a bullet here!

i think he would be good in a team where it was clear other players are better than him.

on a team like goldenstate without baron davis and with monta ellis suspended and hurt, he looks like one of the best players. that may be the problem.

there seems like no discipline on that team to begin with.

great catch

this was reported before. KG also tried to get Magette here. It wasn't just Doc talking to corey's family, or Ainge going over to his place.

So KG ostensibly wasn't all that pleased when he went to Golden State of all teams. He could have guaranteed a Celtic dynasty off the bench here, and along with him and Rondo and Perk, transitioned us (extended our dynasty) into the post-KG seasons..

That's all it is. KG noticing that Magette's about his numbers (little bit like ricky davis). Magette wanted his numbers.. that's why he couldn't backup Pierce and Allen

There's nothing wrong with that necessarily. It's just the reason why, for example, Ricky Davis (pretending we got him and ignoring his Celtic past) would have a tough time backing up Allen and Pierce.

Let's call it the Bynum Syndrome.

can anyone blame corey though? living in cali ain't bad.

but the real reason is, he would have been a fool to pass up 50 million in guaranteed money.

the real fools in this situation is the warriors for offering that much. they coveted kg for a long while, never got him, lost baron and got that team? plus ellis hurt himself so bad he's out for months? sucks for them.

To be fair to Maggette, the vast majority of guys on teams with no shot at the playoffs are just chasing their numbers most games. I'm not trying to suggest that it's OK, but let's not be foolish enough to pretend that what Maggette has been doing is somehow unique. KG was pissed Maggettee didn't come to Boston, that's why he dissed him. If he actually thought the way Maggette plays is problematic, he/Ainge/Doc wouldn't have been trying so hard to get him here over the summer.

We would have signed him only for the MLE. That would have been totally different than giving him 10 mill a year for 5 years.

I know people in GS either loved or hated Baron Davis. But for a couple mill a year more they could have kept him!!! just saying.

If Baron had known Brand was gonna jump ship in LAC, then he probably woulda stayed anyway!

You know, KG might have actually been referring to Maggette's contract when he said "numbers". As in way to go get a big deal, instead of playing with us.

I can't never fault a man for going for the money. James Posey left Boston for the money and Cory sign with GState for the money. That being said a kid like Cory Maggetts could have made a lot of money by coming to Boston for a year or two. Help the team win another championship and have people look at him as one of those player you need to help get you over the hump...ie. James Posey. But as much as you guys may not like to hear this a lot of guys play pro ball just for the money. Few play the game because the really love it.

Going for the money and being a completely selfish prick once you get it are two different things. He should be doing whatever he can to help GS win not just be chucking and cherry picking or he is a stiff which apparently he is.

Can anyone say..."oversensationalized, out of context, journalism?"

Look at the play-by-play here...

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/playbypla ... =281126002

If you notice the last play of the game, its Corey getting a layup when down ten points. He was padding his stats on an undefended basket. Thats what KG was yelling about. And does anyone know if KG was actually pissed or if he was just playing around with Maggette?

Either way...you guys and the Maggette-haters on the GS board (who, btw have always hated Don Nelson and about 75% of our team --at least since we went to the playoffs two seasons ago) have SERIOUSLY ran way too far with this one.

The thing is, in all seriousness from a life long B-Ball fan in his 30's

In my humble opinon KG has been the closest player to "pick up the tourch" passed by Bird, Magic, Jordan.

I say that because of his talent combined with his charcture and relentless desire to win. No disrespect to Paul, but even he is not on the level of KG in that regard.

I loved he snapped off on Magette, and the way he pushed and upset little Calderon, lol
He doesnt care if he scores 4 points and shoots 1-15 as long as they win. Plus he makes his teaamates better. I used to get so po'd when the media would dog him for not getting out of the first round, when without him they are a lottery team at best. You could see, hear, and feel has pain when he had to peak to the media after each first round exit. On the contrary you could see, hear, feel the utter joy when he said the now famous "anything is possible"

When KG finally decides to put his kicks on the shelf, there will be a big void felt in the NBA.

I also think he would pimp slap cori speggti if they met after the game

In closing I can only imagine some of you felt the same way when you first heard KG was commin to Beantown

Peace

Thats a good point man , never thought about it like that, although KG probably would have said something like "way to earn your money" or something like that if he meant it in that context

good point though
