Rodney Rogers paralyzed

Post#1 » by bruno sundov » Thu Dec 4, 2008 4:03 pm

This is a sad story. Poor guy has his whole life in front of him. Saved his money form playing ball and was just looking to stay busy. He was the only pro ball player I ever met, and was really nice to me when I saw him with kedrick Brown at the Rack in Boston. He seemed like a really nice guy.

Damn...me too, I liked him a lot and was pissed when cheapskate Gaston let him go after the ECF run in 2002...he was a huge reason we were so successful later in the season...

Hope he is doing OK, and will pray for him...

Think of if Gaston kept Rodney ok rebounder great 3 point shooter and traded Fatoine for something while his stock was still high. I have let all that go. We are nasty now.

Rodney Rogers had an easy 5-6" on kedrick brown the night I met those 2. Kedrick brown was chasing all the fat girls that night. So funny.

Man this sucks. How did this happen? How bad of a fall did it have to be from a ATV to leave him paralyzed? We all need to pray for him.

I agree 100%, he seems like a great guy and I really feel bad about this. There was a thread on here about posters not wanting to talk about former players which I didnt agree with so Im happy this was brought up.

Get well soon Rodney!

Wow. I remember when the celtics traded for both him and tony delk. Two of my favorites in this decade.

I feel so bad for Rodney, best wishes to him.

Just read the story on espn, how sad. the guy was doing all the stuff you'd hope all these players do when they retire and this is what happens.....

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/stor ... AHeadlines

theres the link,
"Michael Balzarano, who oversaw Rogers at the Durham DPW, said Rogers was not working for the city as a lark until he got bored.

"I didn't even know he had lots of money. He is very friendly, very concerned, very conscientious," Balzarano said, according to the report. "We chose him because of his ethics and his attitude. He was highly motivated. He was promoted to supervisor six months ago.""

You wish all players could be like this after they retire but most of them just throw there money away. One of the few who try to make a diffence ends up paralyzed, very sad to hear

This is sad. Life is so precious.

Let me just pass on what my adopted Jewish grandmother said when I faced a similar event concerning my daughter. She counseled, "thank God it isn't worse. And to underscore the point, she listed all the ways it could be worse. I guess Jews by sad experience have long since learned no matter how bad it is, it can get a lot worse.

There is hope. He is still alive. My daughter is now working at MGH on a regenerative neural treatment for spinal chord injuries and we are a lot closer than one would think.

Very sad. I always liked Rogers as a player, and from everything I have heard/read, he was a genuinely great person.

Best wishes to him and his family through all of this.
