I think we'd need something else in return. a 5for1 isn't the best idea midseason, although I would not mind this trade otherwise

Wait, let me get this straight. We give up Eddie House, Tony Allen, Brian Scalabrine, Glen Davis, and JR Giddens for Gerald Wallace?

Yep, we can just sign vets and bring Bill Walker back to fill in the roster.

Do I really need to explain to you why this is a horrible idea?

Ahh it's good to have you back, cfan
No way...House and TA are 2 of the only 3 good bench guys we have going right now!!

Alright CFan is back.
Yeah were not trading TA and House, never mind including the only thing we have that passes as a back up center and getting one guy back but good to see you back at what you do. But if you could get Eddie House out of the deal then I would be all for it.
That said why on Earth would MINN or CHA be interested in this deal. This was as something for nothing deal for MINN now it is a nothing for nothing deal for them.

WOOOO Wacky Cfan threads are back. Yay
To this deal.
No
If we make a trade, it should be for a big man.

Walker and Wallace would be nice second unit guys, but we're giving up three starting caliber guys (TA, Giddens, Baby) and argueably the deadliest shooter in the league
Way too much for a glorified role player, a role player that most likely wont excel as a role player
Pass

I don't know about anybody else but I really like our backcourt of Rondo, Ray, Tony and House right now. These guys all have unique strengths and they're able to give teams different looks all while playing with superior energy. No need to break that core up IMO... they're all keepers even going into the postseason. Sam Cassel is a possible 5th guard, eh, not bad.
The Celtics need one or two other things to solidify the team. A long - or mid-range shooter at the PF (Joe Smith) or a big post defender at the C spot (Mutumbo).
Wallace is an interesting piece and we'd be absolutely lethal on defense and with a small lineup but I don't think he's really a need so it doesn't make sense to get worse in other areas just for Wallace. Unless you love Sam, Pruitt, Powe-Baby (as a frontcourt tandem), or you absolutely know we're going to get Mutombo or Joe Smith.
Personally that's too many ifs for me to deal with, I 'd pass on this deal.

Come on guys, if we brought in Mourning or PJ for the center spot they would do much more then Baby could do for us.

Let's get those Veterans ready to sign, with the pen in their hand, before we make any trade like that. Bill Walker is a big downgrade from TA, but I guess we could get another 'Veteran' since we have the roster space.

Gerald Wallace is a nice role player, but this idea is just ludicrous... good to have you back Cfan!

Think I'll pass on giving up our whole bench for a role player

This would've been a solid move in the offseason when we could've filled the holes it left us with, but this is not a move a 20-2 team should make. Maybe if we were something like 13-9 and it was clear we had a problem keeping Lebron in check we could make the move, but it'd just cause too much disruption, even if we were expecting Brown/Mourning and Marbury/some vet available point to join us soon.

Garbage. If Ainge wanted to screw up his cap flexibility for the bumper crop of free agents in 2010, he would have just signed Posey to the same deal that the Hornets did. Doing this deal erases the chance of acquiring a prime FA, plus it weakens our bench considerably. Thumbs down.

has anyone ever seen poster proposed trade on realgm ever come to fruition or are they always ridiculous jokes that have no chance of happening?

Wow, this just seems like we're moving a third of the roster so that we don't have to see Scal play 10 minutes a game.

doing this trade will not give us any cap space to sign lebron in 2010!
just playing!
Scal house and allen will become free agents the same year ray and rondo become free agents. I would like to see most of the money we free up go to rondo. If this trade happened it would mean less money for both ray and rondo.
